Has anyone hotel hopped during their stay? We are planning a trip out to the parks in March and have 3 days booked at the Grand Californian. (Our FAVORITE hotel!) My husband and I were talking about possibly wanting to stay for an extra day. However, we thought about booking a night at the Disneyland Hotel as we have NEVER stayed there. We thought the kids would like the pools and we would like to experience Trader Sams. Has anyone stayed a night at one hotel and then moved to another hotel? Is it easy to do or more of a hassle and a pain?

If the pool is important to you, have you called the GCH to see if the pool will be open during your stay?

Please Pardon Our Pixie Dust

From January 2017 through fall 2017, it is possible that you may see and hear construction as we make improvements to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. To minimize any disruptions, activities that may create noise will not start earlier than 9:00 AM.
  • Room refurbishments will occur from January 2017 through fall 2017.
  • The pools and poolside cabanas will be closed for refurbishment from January 2017 to spring 2017. The pools and waterslides at the Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel will be available for your enjoyment, and poolside cabanas at Disneyland Hotel will be available for reservations.
  • The Great Hall lobby will be refurbished and access will be limited beginning June 2017 through early August 2017. Some Guest rooms will not be available during this time.
  • The Craftsman’s Club concierge lounge will be temporarily relocated from early August 2017 through early October 2017.

To learn more about these refurbishments, please call (714) 956-6425. Guests under age 18 years must have parent or guardian permission to call.

Not sure what GCH considers spring 2017 or if the project is going as planned.

I have booked 2 nights in PPH and then 2 nights in GCH.

We were told that we could leave our bags at PPH and they would be transferred to our room at GCH while we were at the parks.

We have done this the 2 times we have gone to DLR. We stayed one night at DLH and then moved over to VGC for the remainder of our stay, and then this past June we did the same thing but stayed one night at PPH and then moved over to VGC for the remainder of the stay. It was extremely easy to do. We just checked out of one hotel and gathered our belongings and walked them over to the next hotel. Since we did this very early in the morning, we had to leave our luggage with Bell Services after we checked into the second hotel, and by the time we headed back for a midday break, our room would be ready and we would have Bell Services bring up the luggage.

This! We are also going in March and staying at GCH and were planning on hopping over to use the pool. This could work in your favor though if you didn't want to physically switch hotels since normally you can't share pools. You could still try out the DLH pool for the kids and anyone is welcome at Trader Sams! Of course like PP said, I also have no idea what they're considering Spring 2017. I would think that's coming up pretty quick possibly.
