Hotel Hopping?

I have heard some mention here on the board about staying at 2 different hotels during their visit. We are thinking about staying at Quality Inn Plaza for 4 days when we are visiting parks, etc, then staying at either the Wydham on I-drive or the Marriot Grand Vista for 2 days to enjoy the pools.

Does this sound crazy? We are looking at the point of having basic and simple accomodations close for our park visits, then for the weekend before our departure, just hang around at the resort/hotel and enjoy the pools. We will not be visiting the parks on the weekend.

Has anyone here done this? and what was your experience?

I hotel hop fairly frequently. I think it's very sensible if there's a reason... for example, I recently split a stay between the Comfort Inn LBV (six nights) and Dolphin (two nights). Since my first six nights were spent touring the area, with very little time spent in the room, it made no sense for me (personally) to spend $189/night on the room. However, I enjoyed the resort & its offerings the last two nights, making the $189/night well worth it.

I also do this very frequently in Las Vegas... during the week you can get a cheap room rate + lots of freebies at the major hotel-casinos. If you don't mind switching rooms, this can make for a great value trip!

To each their own of course, but I've just never gotten the whole split stay thing. I mean I understand the concept behind it. ie: wanting to stay at the GF but cant afford the whole stay so you stay a day or 2. Since it's just my wife and myself normally, we find the hotel that seems to fit us and that's where we'll stay. I just wouldnt want to have to do the check in thing 2 times, packing and unpacking 2 times etc etc. I know lots of folks love doing it, but when I go on vacation, I use the hotel as someplace to sleep, take a shower, and that's about it. I dont go on vacation to use a hotel.

Seven nights- 4 in POFQ and 3 in Contemporary. We wanted to try both. The check out-check in wasn't bad, we had a car, packed up our stuff, went to a park, and then checked into the CR at 3. Walked to the MK for the night.
