Hotel for January

Combine APs with airline points and a long weekend, and I’m planning 4 nights in January.

Doubletree...$500
Holiday Inn...$550
Cabana Bay...$700

Never stayed at any of them. Which would you pick and why?

1. When in Jan?
2. Will you have a car?
3. Did you check for AP rates at Cabana Bay (or Aventura)?
4. Planning pool time?
5. Is early entry something you plan to use?

Both those first two are easy walking distance, and HI for sure has a shuttle (DT may also). CB charges parking each day, so budget that too if relevant. If you don't care about the pool and don't plan on EE, the extra $200 isn't getting you much at CB. Though it does make mid day breaks easier if that's your style.

I’d pick Cabana Bay. The theming is really fun! Parks close early in Jan.- it’s nice to have a fun resort to return too. Bowling, pools, great gym, fire pits...

I agree with pp that Cabana will have a lot to do around the resort. We love Cabana bay!

Details that might help...

Jan 18-22 (MLK weekend!).
No car---will Uber from MCO.
Week-long visits last summer and summer 2019, so no real stress about getting everything done.
Just me and my husband.
If the weather is right we'll sit by the pool, but otherwise really using the hotel for sleeping and maybe a cool adult beverage in the evenings.
We travel from Nevada, so we will NOT do EE. We stay on our time zone for shorter trips, so hit the park around 10 am.

It’s still worth it to me to pay for the onsite. But, it sounds like you don’t think it is. I’d pick Doubletree then. Have you priced Aventura though?

Aventura is $698 (apparently no AP rooms left).

Really torn!!! This is supposed to be a budget trip, but onsite is whispering in my ear...
