Hey everyone-

I am the "official" accomodations planner for our group for the 2010 half. We are definately going to stay on property, and everyone has agreed to a moderate resort. We are all arriving on Fri, leaving on Sun (going on a cruise!!)

So my questions are:

1) which mod would you choose and why? I have stayed at all put POR, the others have not stayed at any, they really aren't interested in the parks etc (I am the only one with a small (well 10 yo at the time) child).

2) Are there packages or discounts for the weekend? Where can I find those?

I am thinking of staying at one of the PO's because we can all go to DTD for dinner and such rather easily.

Thanks for any help offered. We will be booking our cruise right after the new year and I want to get the hotel stuff lined up for when we all register for the race.

I would probably stay @ CBR. And that is only because that is the closest to Epcot & the start / finish (I think)

PO MAY be a bit closer, but because of the road closures I think IMHO that CBR is easier to get to.

Otherwise I would have no preference at all.

We chose CSR only because we have never stayed there before. We just wanted something new this time around and also wanted a mod.

Allyson :)

I would stay at Coronado Springs only because I love the Spanish colonial themeing. It is the most out of the way so it may appeal to the non-park people with you. I also think the Pepper Market is the best CS restaurant at the moderates. My second choice would be POR. The boat to DTD is convenient and I also like the themeing there.

If you go to the resorts board you will see that resort opinions are pretty much totally opinion unless there is a compelling reason for narrowing them down.

If you're looking for a smaller resort, then I recommend Port Orleans French Quarter. Several years ago, we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and thought everything was too spread out. At POFQ, regardless of your room location, you're very close to the pool, food court and transportation.

Thanks for the replies! I think we are going to go with POFQ.

Are there packages or discounts offered once you register for the race? Just wondering so I can let the others know.

Thanks for all the help!

Anthony Travel offers discounted rates for runners. They also guarantee entry so if the races close before everyone can enter they can get in via the Anthony Travel back door. I used them for the 2008 half since I registered after the event was full. I had no complaints.

I do want to caution you that if you go through them you will not show on the registration verification screen until the end of November unless they changed the way groups are input. They waited until Anthony closed their registrations and entered everyone at the same time.

You may also want to look at Dreams Unlimited. They are owned by the same people who run this site (in case you were unaware) and are great. I used them in the past also. They did not offer runner registration though so if the event is closed I don’t believe they can get you in.

I have stayed at all the mods. I would go with CBR or One of the Port Orleans resorts. My expereinces at CSR have not been great and that Pepper Market "tip" burns me up. Gee, without thier help I would "never" find the only clean table in the place. What was that tip for? So the staff could stand in the corner and gossip??? WOW!

(That's not been my biggest problem there though. A manager once asked me if I could just "live with the room" UH NO, it had no POWER! LOL! yes, folks for $150 a night you too should be "happy" just to be at Disney and not require lights, phone or Air Conditioning LOL!)
