Hi,

I am a DVC member who has only been to DisneyWorld. I am planning my family's 1st trip to DisneyLand.

We are planning to stay at the Grand Californian and then Hotel del Coronado in San Diego. My question regarding the rooms is whether the rooms advertised in the point charts at these 2 hotels will comfortably fit a family of 4: 2 adults, 2 elementary school-aged children.

To make this trip work we want to use a single room per night at the DVC point rate. Do they have rooms available at this rate with 2 full or 2 queen rooms ? I am pretty sure the GC will be fine, but am more concerned about the Coronado.

I just went to call member services to ask, but they were already closed.

Thanks,
Neal

We recently stayed at the Hotel Del Coronado on points. We are a family of five and there was enough room in the room for a rollaway. Even with the rollaway, it was not too crowded. So I feel like the room should be large enough for four.

Hi Gracelrm,

Thanks for the reply. Did your room have 2 full or queen beds ? The pictures on the standard no view room on their website appear to have one bed.

Thanks again !

I'm fairly sure there were two queen beds. And we were certainly in a room without a view. I'm used to a King-sized bed at home so I look at queens and think they are small, but I'm almost positive it was 2 queens. Our room had a nice sized bathroom and a dressing area with a sink outside of the bathroom. Our room was comfortable and as I mentioned before, there was a roll-a-way in it too!

Our room was in the California Cabanas area of the resort. We were not in the towers, nor what I assume was the original building.

Call Member Services tomorrow to make sure, but I had a no-view room that I'm pretty sure got upgraded to a room in the towers (ground floor) which had two queen size beds. Even without the upgrade though, I know MS told me that the room would have two beds -- not sure if they specified queen size, but I definitely verified that there were two beds. I do remember that the confirmation letter did not state anything other than "no view room."

(Oh, and if given the option of ground floor or higher, I'd suggest going higher. We had a view of the ocean -- from our patio, past the 3-4 feet of greenery, past the 3-4 feet of sidewalk, you could see the ocean in the 5-6 inch dip in the 5 foot high berm between the hotel and the beach. If I were taller I guess I'd have been able to see more, but I'm not. :-) Of course, a higher floor overlooking the parking lot isn't going to do you much good, either. Good luck!)

Thanks for the replies. I will be sure to ask about getting 2 beds. I will also make sure that we ask not to be near the laundry service....I read your thread Gracelrm - I hope that your trip was a good one non-the-less.

The have a lot of construction going on at the Del right now. Will that impact yuor decision?

GC was great!!!!!!

The rooms are nice sized, you should be fine.

Want to sound like a local while you're there? Call it the Hotel Del. (I used to live in San Diego) :sunny:

Hi Deb and Bill - We are planning ahead for next spring. Hopefully it will be done by then, but we will enjoy regardless. :thumbsup2
