Hotel Coupons at Rest Stops?

We are from Toronto and its been a while since we've driven down to Florida. Do they still have the coupons available for hotels throughout the US at rest stops? Probably our first stop will be in Michigan then maybe Georgia using the I75.

Yep, they still have them but we tend to use the "red book" the most and they are on the web also. Take a look, it gives you a chance to see what coupons are in the books before you get it and allows you to make reservations before you get to that state.

We went online using our phones to book hotel rooms on our trip down to Florida. We compared different sites like hotels.com to find the best price and booked it a couple hours before we arrived. There might be coupons at rest stops but we found better deals online.

In our experience you pretty much only get those coupon rates if you are checking in early....around 4-5pm. We tend to drive until about 9pm so we have to just pick an exit with several hotels and then go in a few to ask about the rate and try to negotiate a deal. We usually do pretty well with any of the Choice hotels....Comfort Inn in particular. The CAA/AAA rate usually gets us a room for around $80 incl tax and breakfast.

We tried to use a rest stop hotel coupon at a Country Inn & Suites in Ohio on our way to Dollywood over spring break. Before I even got to the counter, the guy behind it said "that is only good for a king - smoking room". He wasn't interested in working with me at all. Too bad for him, I took my business elsewhere.

We used the Coupon Books to help us find a hotel last June. We found a Comfort Suites in Kingsland, Georgia for $60 a night with a full breakfast!
