hotel close to Disneyworld or in Disney???

We were planning on staying in a hotel near Disneyworld, but now we are hearing evan hotels across the street are still a long way from Disney. We are also thinking about Port Orleans in Disney, but that seems like a long way from Disney Park. Help!!! Any info will be helpful.

All of the hotels on the Disney property are serviced by a transportation system that will take you to the theme parks and other attractions on the property. Most often it's bus service, but in some cases might involve monorails or boats. For Port Orleans you'd have bus service. I'm not sure about the off-site hotels - I'd think they'd have shuttles too, but not as frequent or convenient.

Walt Disney World is HUGE and there are 4 main parks and two water parks, so there really isn't anywhere that is "across the street" like there is at Disneyland.

Any of the resorts (hotels) inside Disney World is vastly more convenient to all four of the parks than any hotel outside Disney World. Each resort has separate buses to each of the four parks, plus Downtown Disney, and the buses run constantly. So, you don't have to drive your car to the parks, you just hop on the bus at your resort and ride the bus to the front gate of the park. When you are tired and ready to return to your resort, you hop on the bus back to the resort. Those buses are fabulous! Also, for us, staying at the resorts inside Disney World adds immeasurably to the magic of the World. Port Orleans is great, we love it. If this is your first trip, stay at one of the Disney World resorts, you'll be glad you did.
