We are planning a universal trip for early march. Ive been looking at hotels and I can get a king suite for less than the 2 queen bed room I currently have booked with an annual passholder discount.

I have purchased buy 2 days get 2 days free park to park tickets from undercover tourist.

Can I upgrade one of these to a seasonal AP once I get there and still get an AP discount? None of my dates are blocked out on the seasonal AP.

If I do upgrade, will they give me credit for the price I paid for the ticket (275, so it would cost me 50 dollars to upgrade on ticket) or will they give me credit for the price of a 4 days park to park ticket (which actually costs more than a seasonal AP).

Thanks for your help!

Yes, you can upgrade to a seasonal AP once there and use the AP rate to book a room now. There are weekend concert blockout dates for the Studios park, did you check those? You could wait until your last park day to upgrade if that is an issue.

I haven't seen reports on how much they will charge you to upgrade, I would think you should at least get credit for the Universal price for the buy 2 get 2 ticket. In November we upgraded DH's 4 day ticket (not the promo 2 for 2 one) to seasonal and he was given a $5 gift card.

It looks like the concert is 3/2 that week and we’d be in the parks 3/3-3/5.

It’s jusy the concerts that are issues correct? Not the parade which seems to be eveynight.

Thanks for this info! Based on our dates, I may buy UT 4 day park to park tickets and upgrade to Power Passes upon our arrival. It should be about an even swap if I do this. I’m afraid if I buy the buy two get two tickets, we would only be given credit for the gate price of two day tickets. That happened to me last time I upgraded. Still a savings, but not as much.

If you only need one AP I’d buy the cheapest pass for the others in your party.

Yeah, I'm not sure how they are treating the buy 2 get 2 promo. Like I said, I would think they should give the price that they are selling them for, which is the same price as a 2 day ticket - $275 + tax for either 2 days or 4 days. The regular 4 day tickets are $309 + tax. So a 2 day + 2 free from UT would still save a few bucks even if it is only counted as a 2 day ticket (as obviously a 4 day ticket from UT would save over the Universal cost for a 4 day)

In our previous experience, the 2 day plus 1 free from UT has always arrived as a regular 3 day ticket and was treated as such by Universal when upgrading. (disclaimer - past results can not guarantee the same in the future!)

The promo tickets with specific expiration dates are usually valued as the promo price (Universal's promo price, not UT's). If it's a deal UT is doing alone, you get normal tickets with regular value.
