Hotel and Transportation suggestions from FLL to Miami port

Hello! We are flying into FLL late the night before our cruise. I understand it isn't far from the Miami port. Does anyone have any hotel suggestions near the airport so we can get to bed shortly after landing? And what would be the best way to get to the hotel, and then to the port? Rent a car? Taxi? Uber? Thank you for any help! This is our first.

We probably need more info on your parties size. I was looking into flying and staying in FLL before my cruise out of Miami (in the end with the lowering airfare of late chose MIA) and in my research I found SAS for transportation from FLL hotel to POM. There are many FLL hotels that seem quite convenient. last year when I sailed out of FLL we stayed at the Renaissance FLL cruise port and it was a 5 minute taxi ride from the airport. Cannot recall cost though we had a full cab so for us the pp was minimum.

Twice we did this and we stayed at the Courtyard Marriott right near fort Lauderdale Airport. You call them when you get to the airport and they pick you up and bring you to the hotel. I can't remember for sure but they may have even had a shuttle to the port, call them and ask they were very nice and helpful. If they didn't have a shuttle they were able to arrange a cab for us.

As a family of six probably cheaper to rent a car as shuttles charge per person, then you can go at your own time and make your own stops to pick up anything left behind or some water, etc. Personally I usually go for easiest over cheapest and would still look into SAS for transportation to POM. I think they discounted even for groups of four or more but it's been a while since I checked it all out.
