Hot Tub Time & Running through WDW: Jan 2025 Trip Report (Completed)

Hello!
This is our trip report from early Jan 2025 for my first attempt at Dopey and my son 8th birthday.

Basic Info:

We are DVC owners at AKL and Aulani we own between my husband, me and my parents.

We stayed at the Cabins in Copper Creek in Wilderness Lodge from Jan 7th -13th.

We have the Sorcerer Pass.

Here is the whole family!



My parents in their 60s on the right... my dad loves AKL since he grew up in Kenya for a while and my mom loves being grandma going doing stuff with my son.

I am the Disney obsessed, classic disney mom.. now in my 40s... wow I am old now. Lol.

My son holding the dino nugget is 7 years old and loves dinosaur, star wars, and marvel. He also qualified for das under the new system.

My husband on the far left is in his 40s too, loves star wars and marvel and grew up going to disney, so wants to pass that on to his son.

I will be updating this as I go. I love putting in lots of pics of my trips!

Jan 7th...
Travel Day:
Well my family all get to leave on an early flight while I had to stay and work

Soo not fair soo my family...
My husband sent me pics of them in the Captial One lounge in Denver.




Then pics of them on the airplane. It takes longer because they had to deal ice since it was snowing in Denver.



I have to wait...
Late afternoon I head down and luckliy the snow had let up and the plane is on schedule still.

I head to the Captail One lounge for dinner.
The mac and cheese is soo good.


And my drink.


I head to the plane and I see other rundisney people and we start chatting.

We load and guess what? The middle seat is open!! This flight has a lot of open spots. Flying on a random Tuesday late in the evening is great!!

My god this place is amazing!!!
Soo much room in the living room and kitchen. The blinds are automatic too.

I did not land till after 11pm...
My husband came and picked me up in our rental car.
Coming into late into Orlando is super nice. This airport is not crowded really late and my husband was able to easily get me. Even the super busy roads in-between the airport and WDW was easy and not crowded.


Highly recommend coming in late night.


We come in and I actually stop at the lobby first to see the tree and guess what... they are putting it away... no...


They do have signs already up for the runners.


Then we continue on and we park at the special parking lot for the Cabins.
Then walk down this path.


It looks soo pretty.

And finally make it to our Cabin.



It is late everyone else is asleep.

So I just put my stuff to the aside and go to sleep.

Wensday
What a beautiful way to wake up in the morning.



Also I had to check out this TV in the mirror.. it is crazy.

Then I head out to get breakfast from the quick service here. It is an easy walk down this path. I take a look at all the nice things around.




Soo i had to get this bear claw, look at the size of it!!! My husband and me are going to share this sucker.



And then mickey waffles for my son.


My parents eat the breakfast they make in the kitchen.

The bear claw is not as good as hoping for... u can tell it has been sitting there for a bit... man i wish we could order these fresh.

My son loved his mickey waffles and I took the bacon.
I start unpacking.

Next I had to get a virtual queue for rundisney expo. Man getting in those are soo stressful.
But I got a good spot 9th!
We then head back through the lobby... yep the tree is offically down... nothing left of xmas and we head to the expo rundisney busses. They contract out busses just for runDisney. They do not meet in the normal bus stop they meet right out side the lobby. There will be a rundisney busses sign.

We get off the bus and man is it crowded.

They hold the rundisney expos at the ESPN center. Different buildings have different parts to it. We first go to the bib line while we wait for our virtual que spot for the merchandise. Out virtual spot was called so we ditch the line quickly and head to the merchandise area.

The merchandise is the big thing to get here because for some reason rundisney does not like money so they never get enough for everyone and sell out of soo much of the merch really quickly.

I love how rundisney decorates everything fir rundisney.









Soo merch is crazy I did not take pics in the merch area cause I was busy trying to get all the Dopey.... I was able to get most of what I wanted but the Dopey hoodie already sold out.... it is crazy how disney knowing how many Dopey runners there are don't have enough merch and it sells out already in an hour.

We do a few pics...





Well we go off and check out the bib lines and is really, really, really long... like I have never seen it this long before... it is around lunch time so we decide to go back to the cabin and eat and relax. Then try to come back when hopefully the line gets shorter.
So we head back to the bus and go back to the cabin.

My husband, my dad and my son went to MK while we were at the Expo. So we had the place to ourselves.

We eat some fried chicken my parents got from Publix.

I then do my merch pics!



And we fully unpack and do some decorating.
Including add my new magnets to the fridge.... ohh the fridge is not actually metal.... soo we switched to the dishwasher, yeah it works!


We also put up the birthday signs for my son. One on the front window and the other one mantel.



We also pick up the cake we ordered and dessert from the front desk. It is nice getting things in order.

I also post in the rundisney disboards about what is already sold and I found out one of the disboard peeps has an extra Dopey hoodie and we can buy it from her! So we head back to the expo to buy it and hopefully the lines have gotten shorter.

While my mom and me were doing running stuff the rest of the family had fun at magic kingdom. My husband said they had fun going on the boat over and that my son thought it was soo cool it was just a boat ride away. He has always had to take the bus to MK.
They did some rides and were able to see the parade from a distance. Overall a great little experience over in MK.
