Disneyland is testing scanning paper FastPasses at Space Mountain today. The paper FP's have a bar code at the bottom that is scanned when entering the FP queue. The light turns green, when it's been scanned.

They are collecting information, including how many of the distributed FP's are actually being used. They are trying to determine if they can have the FP linked to your AP or ticket. The assumption is with the new Disneyland App that can have your pass on it, you may not need your actual paper/card ticket at all, and everything, including FP's, would be on your smartphone.
