Hey everyone,
My girlfriend and I (both CM's) are hosting a bridal shower at WDW for our other girlfriend who used to be a CM and is now living in Dallas. We are really so excited to host this weekend event since our bride is a Disney freak and, of course, so are we! It is going to be during the Food and Wine festival, which is our favorite time at Epcot.

We are thinking of doing dinner at a fun place like Ohana on Friday night when everyone arrives, something where we can all sit around and chat and have some great food. Saturday we have planned to do the Food and Wine festival all day. Sunday, we are planning a tea at the Garden View lounge at the GF resort and I think they leave Sunday night. I know that we can order a cake from GF private dining, so I am excited about that. Our budget's aren't huge, but we want it to be special too, whatever it takes!

My need for help lies in creativity. I want to send the bride an invitation of sorts in a box with bridal mickey ears (she has no idea we are planning this, this invite would be the first she knows of the event). I would like it to be a poem sort of thing, Disney related. I just can't think of anything!!! Also, I would like to send out invites to the other members of the bridal party. I have checked many of the invite sites, but they are either too $$ and too formal for just a shower, or too kiddie like. Maybe I am better off trying to make an invite myself from things at Michael's that are Disney related, even though it is more time consuming, I will not have to buy the minimum of 25 invites, when I only need like 15.

Since you all the Disney wedding experts and have had experience writing Disney related invitations, I was hoping that you all would have some ideas to spark my creative juices!!

Thanks in advance!

if you can make the invitations yourself, that would be wonderful! a personal touch like that would really mean a lot to your friend. how about make simple invitations for your friend's bridal party and for your friend, you can make a scroll invitation to go along with the bridal ears. it can start off with "here he, here he..." with the font being calligraphy or something close to it and maybe some minor stationary to give it a little royal touch. make it something out of cinderella! you can use tea bags to "age" the paper if you want. tie the scroll to the ears, either between the ears or under them, which ever you think looks more noticable. i hope i was of some help to you.

scrapbook the invites. I would say to do something at Ghiradelli. Do a scavenger hunt to make her find the shower. Just a few ideas....I live in Dallas if you need any help!

Thanks ladies! Just being on this board and seeing about your weddings makes me think more creatively (and jealous that I didn't get married at WDW myself...:)!

And Tinkerbela: I have a cat that could be a twin to your cats, I gasped when I saw the photo of them! Those two are cuties!

what i did was went to an invitation store and just bought one of the invite I liked, scanned it into my computer and printed it for everyone. the prices there were like 4.50 per invite plus printing which is ridiculous, and thye were fine with me buying just one. also sometimes you can find a pic of one online and save it and resize it.

I can't think of anything as far as a poem, etc. right now (having a creative mental block!) It kind of depends on the "theme" you are going for and what type of person the bride is. Is she into the whole "princess" thing? Or would something geared more towards the Food & Wine Festival be better? Again, I'm kind of blanking on poems & stuff...but if she's a Pooh fan I'm sure there are many cute things you can do as far as food and a little "rumbly in the tumbly" goes!

But as far as home-made invitations are concerned, there are limitless options!! I'm planning on making invitations for my intimate wedding and this is a site I found:

http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/envelopes/diagonal_folder.html

The half-moon and petal cards are really cute, but since you seem to have multiple events planned the diagonal folder would probably be perfect for you! You could print up the "main" invitation on coordinating cardstock, post it on the side w/o the pocket and then include info on each individual event in the pocket side...

Thank you both, Heather and Jennifer. I was thinking that maybe I could save one of those invites online and resize and print, that would be great, and easy! Jennifer, I loved that paper site, they have such great stuff!
I went to Michael's today, and I was very overwhelmed. I have only made one scrapbook before, so I am not really quick or creative with it. I always tend to go overboard and want to really do it up, not realizing the time or the cost. I am going to go to the Art of Disney tomorrow and see exactly what they have there, I know that they have quite a few things, but I can't remember what, and maybe JoAnn's too...

Thanks!

Ladies,
I finished my invite and sent it out in a box with the wedding mickey ears on Friday. I am so excited to hear the bride's response! I thought I would post the pics of the invites, they aren't that close, but the one sheet on the middle part has lyrics from "part of your world" (the bride is our Ariel, as she has long flowing red hair) and then the rest are event details. I ended up going to the Art of Disney, they have nothing, and Michael's, but ultimately bought the supplies at a paper store nearby. The bride's colors are cognac and light green. Let me know what you think!

Those are AMAZING! Congrats on not only creating such an incredible set of events for your friend, but also in creating such a tasteful and incredibly gorgeous invite!

Thanks guys! I was so proud of myself (I do not consider myself very creative) that I had to share! Thank you all for letting me bounce ideas off of you all, I needed some bridal inspiration!:)

You did a fantastic job on those invitations! They look amazing. For someone who is "not very creative" you did a bang-up job! :cool1:

What a lucky bride. Please come back and post some pics from the shower! I'd love to see them!
