well, i didnt mention it on here becuz i thought it was going to rain out and get cancled, but i was in my first open horse show yesterday. i've had apache since august and i worked hard to get us both ready. i ride in a western saddle and for those who are wondering what this stuff is, i posted a desciption of each class.. i entered 4 classes in the show results were...

Bribe your hourse- 6th place of 12- time unknown Bribe your horse is where you can use anything you want to try and get your horse to fallow you around. you have to go up, around the barrel and get back without the horse touching you.

Keg Race- 6th place of 11- 14.7 seconds- in this one you have to run up and around the barrel as fast as you can.

Egg and Spoon- 6th place out of 6- there was a discrepency here, another girl dropped hers before me but lied about it, i didnt protest and just took the sixth.

Texas Barrels- 5th place out of 5- 21.1 seconds- I had never done this before, they had 5 trophies and 4 people entered so they just told me to go in and try. I wasn't half bad my time wasnt too far off from the others.. in this race you have to weave in and out of 3 barrels (down and back) as fast as you can.

it was a fun day and i got a small trophy from the taxas barrels. my horse was happy to be running so much. pics to come later cuz i'm off to the disney store.

Congratulations! Horse shows can be a lot of fun. (I said on another thread if I didn't have this screen name, it would be horseshowmom - DD showed for many years). Yes, horse show people can be crazy! We used to do hunter shows - very competitive. Also did 4H which was a lot of fun and a lot friendlier!

Congratulations on your show accomplishments. DD has shown in the past at the paint world show and open shows. She will not show this year as she just returned from a semester of working at WDW. Can't wait to see pictures.

Congrats! Sounds like it was a fun day! I still haven't gotten up the courage to enter any shows yet!

Congrats! Sounds like you had a great time!

I've done my share of horse shows too - hunter, 3 day eventing, open shows, dressage, etc... Played around a bit at reining & western pleasure. My current horse is basically retired. Just don't have the time to get out there and do much.

I also had a great appaloosa gelding named Apache. He was a wonderful friend and part of the family. He came to us at age 2 and was with my until he died 3 years ago at age 25. Just seeing that name brings back lots of great memories!:D

Looks great, Lizze!!!! Maybe get that one up on the picture thread up top here. Neat!!

Hope your storms have calmed down.

I don't know much about horses, but your horse is beautiful.

we've had some nasty storms!! arg.. we are almost to the point of flooding:earseek:

He looks really sweet, Lizzie! Hope you don't get flooded. I had two of my stalls flood twice already - not fun to bail out stalls  ! After I finished at my barn, I had to go to work where I had 14 more stalls to do :faint: .
