Horse Drawn Carriage Rides

Hey there! I’m looking for any information people can provide regarding how Disney treats their horses that operate the horse drawn carriage/wagon rides. I live in an area that offers carriage rides; however, the conditions for the horses are poor and inhumane. The general consensus from PETA is that they are wrong mostly because they places overwork the horses, don’t regulate the temperatures, etc. I’m just wondering what Disney’s standards are for their horses? I haven’t really been able to find something on google, so I thought maybe someone here could point me in the right direction?

As PP's have noted, all of the horses live at Tri-Circle D Ranch which you can visit yourself to see how the horses live and how they are cared for. I had the pleasure of meeting the CM who is in charge of Tri-Circle D. The horses are in incredibly good hands. If you are referring to NYC in your post, WDW is absolutely nothing like NYC carriage drivers in how they house and care for their animals. The horses at WDW aren't primarily revenue builders - they aren't lined up on a street for endless hours each day trying to lure tourists onto carriages. The horses at WDW are, literally, CMs (they have their own name badges). Their care and use at Ft. W and in any special events throughout the resort is highly regulated.

Here is a video of the stables:

Thank you so much for this response and the videos! I think you make a good point in that the horses are not constantly being worked, it definitely makes a difference.
