My DD and I are looking too rides the horses on our Aug trip. My question is, how often do the internal buses run from the parking area to the riding stable?

Thanks

When we did the horseback riding at WL many years ago, we got our horses right near the main parking lot. The ride was very controlled, in a line, with one CM leading and another one at the end of the line. They controlled the route.

Does anyone know if there is an AP discount available for this type of activity?
Do we need to make a reservation or do we just show up the day we want to ride?

Not sure about any discount. But we had to have a reservation when we did the ride. There is a weight limit and age limit.

You won't need to take a bus to the riding stables. The stable is located near the parking lot/main bus stop.

So is it safe to assume that you do a very slow walk and no trotting or cantering?

We did it for our son's ninth birthday because he wanted to try it. You must be nine to ride. So it was a nice thing to do .

Only if you have not ridden before and wanted the experience.

I love horseback riding. I'm actually an instructor for people with disabilities. I very much enjoyed the ride. It was relaxing... didn't have to think loads. Didn't have to groom or tack up. The CMs are very nice and knowledgeable, at least the ones we met. The horses are mellow and relaxed and appeared well cared for. The ride is the full time advertised and starts when you leave the gates of the corral. The scenery is nice and we saw some deer on our ride. I'd consider doing it again.

When my kids were young, they were horse crazy. They would want to go on any ride, no matter what.

As an adult, I love to ride. I would find this riding experience boring. Would I ride it for my kids, yes!

My husband and daughter are going to do this on our trip this summer. My daughter absolutely loves horses. My son and I will stay behind and maybe go grab something to much on while they are out on the ride. Is there somewhere close to where they start that we can go get something? Or do we have to trek somewhere else to do so. I don't care if it's a pop machine, as long as there is someplace in the air conditioning we can go and sit while they are out riding.

only place to sit in air would be the lobby of check in a tv with cartoons can not remember if soda machine in the area. the giftshop/mini mart is an internal bus ride away to middle of campground where you can buy snack type foods but not a counter service meal. if you would decide to walk it is about a half mile walk to the store

Interesting note...Disney adopts out their horses after several years of working to avoid burning them out. I think I have the contact info for this adoption program if you'd like to look into it for your program.

You can take a bus to the Settlement part of Ft. Wilderness which has some restaurants, an arcade and a gift shop/convenience store.

Yes! That would be great! They are nice horses and probably have pretty much seen it all. Thanks!
