I work in the ER of a community hospital. Today a 14 year old boy was killed while riding his bike to school. He was hit by a train. I had all new people at work so I was the one who registered him. This involves being in the ambulance bay when the trauma arrives. I have seen a lot, but never this. I felt so horrible all day, and even now. His parents were so strong. But when his Dad finally broke down and sobbed. It was just too much. I can't say too much (even though it was in the paper), but if you would like to give your kids some extra hugs and kisses today in memory of this life cut short. I am sure it would make me feel better.

Bless his heart! How very sad. What a difficult day this must have been for you. I just said a prayer for his parents. I cannot begin to imagine their anguish.

That is very sad. I know how it feels to lose a child, and feel for the boys family.
Hope your night is better then your day.

I admire the work you do so much. I know I never could be strong enough. God bless you and that boy's family.

I am in tears reading your post. Bless your heart! My thoughts and prayers go out to you, and the famly and friends of this boy who was taken too soon :( I simply cannot imagine what they must be feeling.

You can be certain that my DD4 will be getting lots of extra I love you's, hugs, and kisses tonight.

thanks for your support. It was hard. But Thank God I wasn't the parent having to deal with the death of my child. It was such a horrible horrible tragedy. They will have a de-briefing at work tommorow, so we can all talk about our feelings. I really felt bad for the firemen who were first on scene. When the boys Dad thanked us all for helping them, .......... well as I said, they were very strong.

::yes:: :( :hug:

Yes, I saw this on the news today. Whats worse is the mother and sibling was riding behind him and caught up to him. They didn't know it was him that was hit. How very sad. :(

I can not imagine the grief one feels when they lose a child, how heartbreaking. I applaud you for the work that you do, I know I couldn't do it and that it must take a special person to do what you do.

It takes a special person to do the type of work you do. God Bless you & God Bless the boy & his family.

Very sad, so sad. I know of several young kids killed by trains back when I was a kid, so traumatic. My best to you, kidzmom3, his family, friends. So sad. :hug:

:hug: Prayers for his family and you! I sure couldn't do your job. I worked in a hospital and saw things with kids briefly. I can't imagine more than that. So sad, including one of our neonatologist's son drowning. :(

This is so sad. I saw the news on boston.com this morning. I can't imagine what it must have been like for the mom and sister. I grew up there and my mom still lives there, so news from the area always catches my eye.
Bless you for the work you do. You must be a very strong and compassionate person. I could never do what you do, I'd be a nervous wreck all the time.

Wow, i'm speechless. Hugs to you and that boy's family today, and for the days to come.
