I work in the ER of a community hospital. Today a 14 year old boy was killed while riding his bike to school. He was hit by a train. I had all new people at work so I was the one who registered him. This involves being in the ambulance bay when the trauma arrives. I have seen a lot, but never this. I felt so horrible all day, and even now. His parents were so strong. But when his Dad finally broke down and sobbed. It was just too much. I can't say too much (even though it was in the paper), but if you would like to give your kids some extra hugs and kisses today in memory of this life cut short. I am sure it would make me feel better.
