I have read the mixed reviews on O'hana, but my family has always enjoyed it. We aren't picky eaters and the kids love the show. So for our big family trip we got 8:30 reservations on a Thursday night. We arrive at 8:30 and promptly put our name in - the girl checks it off and tells me that they are out of pagers, but she will remember me. She verifies that we have a child's birthday in our party and I leave to get a drink.

Well we wait until 9:00 and I go up to see how much longer. I'm told that there are a few people lingering to see the fireworks and that I will be seated soon. At 9:30, I'm aggravated and am told it will only be a few more moments while they clean some tables.

At 9:50 I get really upset. The lady looks again in the computer and then announces to me that I never signed in and they don't have a table for me. WHAT? I find the young girl who signed me in and although she does remember me, she can't find what happened to our party in the system. I don't care, I just want to be seated.

We are finally seated at 10:10. At this point the restaurant, is closing, and the show is over. The waiter comes over takes our drink order and within minutes every single bit of food is delivered - the appetizer, the dinner AND the dessert with the ice cream melting. What chance did I have of getting the kids to eat something at 10:00 at night when there is ice cream in front of them?

Ten minutes after we are seated all of the food has been delivered (which I would like to say was also cold and tough), our waiter comes by to get our KTTW cards to charge our dining plan. He brings back our receipts to sign and then says thank you and that he will be leaving for the evening. Are you kidding me? At this point I ask for the manager. I relate all of the problems we had from the very beginning and then to add insult to injury the main reason we go there for my dnephew's birthday (he is 4) they completely forget.

I wasn't yelling, but I was admantly stating my unhappiness. The manager does apologize for all of the problems as he has been aware of them from the beginning and says that he will credit us our dining credit back. Well guess what? He never did!

As much as I may have enjoyed O'hana before, I won't be returning now.

oh that really stinks, what a disappointment!

We have a ressie there, and although its for 5 pm, I will be sure to stand my ground!
I would not wait a second over 1/2 hour without becoming totally enraged. Just how I am.

Something similar happened to us at the Cape May Clambake - they were out of pagers but they would call our name. I was up about 7 times and it was always a few minutes even though there were tons of table and they said they would call our name - still no pager give. We sat there and saw people walk up and be seated who did not have ADRs. We were the last party seated in an otherwise empty restaurant. When we got to the dessert part, there was nothing. Our waitress was wonderful though. I did as for the manager and I explained to him what happened and his answer was - "This is not rocket science, what do you expect?" That's when I started fuming at him. Now if I don't get a pager when I have an ADR, I don't leave the podium until one is turned in and in my little hands.

That is horrible I would definitly want some compensation too~! I would follow up some how with this.

I had the same experience with the no pager thing at Crystal Palace. I demanded one and the CM acted like I was crazy. The place was a zoo and I did not think the "we will call your name" would work at all. More evidence that dining at Disney can be a less than magical experience with all the crowds!

Write a letter! I had a similar incident at Kona and they did credit out money back. Took the sting out since we did not eat the food. (long story).

We had reservatioons for Ohana's last Wednesday for 9:10pm. Due to the late hour, we arrived about an hour earlier and asked if it were possible to be seated earlier since we had an elderly person with us. We sat in the lounge to listen to Kaleao sing, ordered drinks and we were seated before the drinks arrived. Service was good, the food was fine as usual. We asked for an earlier seating at Chef Mickeys for Friday night as well after we arrived and were seated within 15 minutes.

Wow ... that is pretty sad service. I think from now on ..., if I don't get a pager I will wait by the podium as another poster suggested. DH and I were not overly impressed with 'Ohana, but we did not have as much trouble as I've heard lately.

I think the whole "let's sit here and watch Wishes thing" is bad ... keeps people from leaving when they are done!

We had a horrid event at YC/Yachtsman Galley Breakfast in May, 2007 and the CM at OKW was quick to credit our meals right in front of us (and gave us the slip to reconcile the remaining credits).

I do believe they need a firmer hand on "squatters" who arrive and never leave.

On the other hand....they could design their restaurants that have firework views to be more layered in tiers so more of the tables have better views. DISNEY- Are you listening???????

we never go for anything but breakfast! We went to see the dinner show a coupld of years ago and I we didn't like the food anyway (served appropriately) so we don't have any intentions of doing that again.

If you haven't been to breakfast there yet try it once before you completely give up on them!

Wow! What a bad experience youhad. It is very sad to see how this restaurant is treating its guests.

Sorry you went through this, that's crazy:confused3

That stinks! Sorry you had a bad experience!

We had an ADR at 'Ohana in August which I was really looking forward to, but it's one of the few ADRs we are not returning to next year. We didn't have problems with waiting like you - but the speed the food came out at, and it was just blah. The steak skewer was absolutely horrible and fatty - but I will say the potatoes are awesome. Service was just okay.

We won't try there for dinner again, but we are trying breakfast next year.

Wow!! That seems like an unreasonable amount of time to wait. We have a 8:30pm in 2 days at Ohana and I think I will try to arrive at 8pm. Wishes are at 9pm and I'm afraid there will be too much lingering going on around 830pm to catch the fireworks. I don't blame you for being upset....

The fireworks thing is tough.... you can't just make people leave the restaurant. We have ADRs for 9:15, sure we'll have the same problem. Couldn't get anything any earlier our whole trip though.

We ate at OHana's once and that was enough for us. The food was good however my boyfriend within a few hours of eating there was not feeling well.Lasted pretty much the rest of the trip 3 days to go. He blames it on bad food I keep telling him maybe it was something he caught from someone. Needless to say we wont be eating anything at the Poly anymore.

Actually, when I made my 8:00pm reservations for O'hana the CM suggested that I "eat slow" so we could watch the fireworks.

Perhaps they should only have a limited number of tables with preferred seating for the fireworks. I dunno..

My husband and I hit O'Hana for either breakfast or dinner at each of our annual WDW trips. This last July, however, was probably our last O'Hana dinner.

I don't remember if we waited for a table, but I DO have vivid memories of being seated at a table for two right on the "path" that runs through the dining room, though there were empty 2 seaters against the windows. Not only were we on the path, but we were fortunate enough to be at the starting point for the parade, the stopping point for the limbo, and the focal point for the 10 minutes of musical participation.

OMG! I know its Disney, and kids abound, but did they really need to seat us such that all the kids in the restaurant were in our laps, knocking our silverware off of our table, sticking their elbows into our food?!? We were swarmed for at least half of our dinner - the MC even apologized to us!

Our waitstaff, however, were nowhere to be seen. (They probably couldn't get to us through the parade...) And when I got up and went to speak with the hostess, she said she could not move us.

The food, by the way, was just OK. The meat seems tougher every time I go.

So - a word of caution - if they seat you along the parade route - back away slowly and then run for the door!
