Your husband gave the waiter your DAUGHTER's KTTW card to pay for the bottle of wine at Promenade's. ALL cards are chargeable unless you change it at guest services. That's why it looked like your 2 year old charged a bottle of wine.

Sounds to me like you had too much whine, lady. (and I don't mean jester  )

That was the funniest and most appropriate line I've read in ages!

Let's face it, people make mistakes and Disney is human also....but I find it hard to swallow all the this family had go wrong for them.....and it is even scarier that I almost agree with AnnMorin........that is a first.....

That is a terrifying thought....:teeth:

I am sorry to dissent here - but if I look at this letter objectively:

1. The climate control SHOULD have worked .... that is unacceptable.

2. With small childern they should have made a better effort to put her on the early seating.

3. Waiting 20 mins for condiments is BAD service.

4. They should have extra matresses and should not have to disturb guests in thier staterooms.

That being said she does sound like a whiner and that she was uneducated on what a cruise is, but she has some valid complaints and it looks like Disney did not meet the great level of service that we expect.

When booking, everyone is given the choice between early and late seating. Sounds like she chose late without considering the children. Yes, she found out early would be better, but you can't just bump the early people who decided well in advance that early dining would work out better for their kids.

Maybe this lady was so busy doing her complaining and whining that she wasn't watching her kid. Maybe it was sick of hearing the complaining and whining and headed down to the Promenade lounge and bought her own bottle of wine. I know if *I* was travelling with this woman, I'd be drinking heavily!!! ;)

Did anyone notice that rhis was Nov 1998? Many small problems like those have been fixed.

Sorry, but I have never had such issues that I had to go to a supervisor on EVERY issue. And I have been cruising with DCL since early Sept 1998.

You know people are more willing to go out of their way when they are treated nicely in return. Asking for a special service (a bottle of Opus in a bar that doesn't have it) has never been a problem for us. We do it all the time and our servers recognise the fact that we know what we are asking for and they will be compensated for their extra effort.

The really sad part is that people like that are role models for their own children (and sometimes other children as well). If they act that way in front of them, they will grow up thinking that is the right way to address problems. That means my DS could end up having to deal with their kids when he grows up.

Not a pleasant thought........... and, unfortunately I see it far too often.

Hmmmm . . . we all know that everything on the internet isn't true . . . several things about this post don't strike me as "on the level" . . .

Why would Disney give her a room at the Grand that wouldn't hold five people? That's a pretty big mistake. When Disney realized they'd made this huge mistake, why didn't they have SOME room somewhere for this family? Even if it was at another deluxe resort? No company's perfect, but Disney does make things right when they mess up.

Why would she bring along a babysitter for a Disney cruise? Everyone knows that the kids' clubs are one of the big reasons people choose Disney!

How'd she manage to have early seating one night and late seating another night? And since she is so against late seating, why didn't she request early when she made her reservations?

Somehow I'm thinking that this is something just made up.

I wonder if a lot of the problems they had on the cruise, and a lot of the problems we are having with the post are just communication errors. Maybe their English stinks because they are not from an English speaking country. Maybe they did not read the brochure, because they could not. Maybe they did not know there was an early vs late seating. Maybe their travel agent did not. In 1998 there was no Passporter!

Maybe this is why concierge levels guests now get first grabs at everything in advance. Maybe this is why DCL no longer offers baby sitting. Maybe this is why the print about having to book an extra room at WDW if you are in a suite is now so obvious.

Then again......maybe they were just the epitome of the filthy rich spoiled folk we all loooooove to hate. :duck:

Also, since when does Disney have in-room babysitting?

they did offer it in 98. I was just looking at my old guide they gave us, and it states inroom sitting $11 an hour if available.

All I can say is, "Oh, Lord"

That is a lady I wouldn't want to spend much time with! Yikes!princess:

I LOVE the second seating and we had a 6 year old. Being from the West coast the late seating almost seams like our actual dinner time! Of, course after eating ALL day who knows!:smooth:

We'll be on the Wonder on Thursday!:Pinkbounc
