Hopper Question

My family will be going to DL in October, along with Grandpa. I bought tickets for all of us through my employee union. My question is, if for some reason Grandpa isn't able to come.... can I exchange his hopper ticket and get a gift card worth the price I paid for it? I'm 99% certain we will NOT be visiting DL before next spring (so saving the hopper to use later is not an option, as it has to be used prior to Jan. 3, 2010 - or something like that). There IS a possibility that we could upgrade our hoppers to Deluxe Annual Passes, but that's a SLIM possibility.

In general tickets are non-refundable. But it may be possible to save the ticket and use its value towards the purchase of a ticket in the future. So if you paid $169 now and the tickets are $209 the next time you go you can give them the $40 difference for a new ticket.

Union will not issue a refund. Period. I'm 80% sure gramps will come... probably more like 90%. I just wanted to explore my options should he not be able to come. Thanks for the replies, so far! A question about hanging on to it, though. If I have the unused tickets (that says it must be used before January 4, 2010).... will DL apply the value of that hopper to a new hopper, say in April 2010?

Yes they will apply the value of ticket (it should have the price stamped on it) and apply to the then current gate price. So you lose any discount you got but at least you do not lose the money you spent.
