Hi All,

I love looking at all of your creative work and have come to you all for your expert advice. My DD has now suddenly decided that she wants a Belle dress for our visit to WDW in January. She will not fit into the Disney child XL dress - she needs something bigger. I've looked at some of the adult dresses, but they are so long, that I would have to do work to them anyway.

Can anybody point me in a direction to find a dress for her? It doesn't have to be a ball gown, but I would prefer the Winter Belle red dress with the sleeves, or the yellow gown. She doesn't want the "peasant" version.

I can sew, but only very "basic". To take that on now is almost impossible. We are leaving January 18. There's just not enough time between now and then to even attempt to sew something. All I've done lately is hemming and fixing seams on my machine, so the concept of cutting and sewing a pattern would have to be fairly simple for me.

Any ideas, suggestions, websites - anything you all can suggest would be MUCH appreciated. Simple patterns, or "similar" dress ideas are great.

This will be her first trip, and her birthday, all combined and I would like to make it as special as possible for her.

Thanks in advance - you all are a wonderful group.

Sharon

There is a lady on ebay that makes dresses for characters based on your measurements. I got an adult plus size blue Belle dress last year for Halloween from here and it is FABULOUS. She is very talented and has excellent quality materials and craftmanship. It came fairly quickly after I sent her all the measurements. I think the website saif 4-6 weeks or something like that but it was here in days (maybe a little more than a week). When the UPS guy showed up at my door and I saw what it was I literly went :scared1:   Her store is granny something but if you search for pioneer, Alice, or Belle dress she comes up in the search. I am sorry I don't have the exact place bookmarked any more, but I highly suggest her and it should not be too hard to find. Hope this helps.

As for something easier, I don't have a clue. We are having the same problem with a neice who wants to be Tinkerbelle. The child suit is too small but the adult suits are too revealing for a 8yr old.:confused3

Thanks - I'll do a search. I looked on eBay yesterday and didn't really find anything like that, but I'll try again. I did find adult costumes that could work on one site, I'll see if I can find it again. She had fairies, too and I think the Tink looked pretty "modest."

My other problem is the form fitting nature of the costumes. Having a plus sized child means some roundness, not flatness in the belly, and stretching material over that is not that flattering. I don't want to give her any body issues, so I don't mention that as the reason she can't have the costume, but it's getting VERY difficult.

Thanks for the tip.
