DH, DS(5) and DS(2) are hoping to stay at VWL for a few nights this September. We've never been there but it looks fabulous. A few questions we had:

1. Is the pool a traditional one with the shallow end being 3 ft deep? Is there a place for little kids?
2. How do you get to the MK? Is it a bus, boat or both?

thanks!

There is a kiddie pool near the main pool. Honestly, I don't know the depth of the main pool but since it is not the basic rectangle, I don't know that it has any real shallow part. Here's a picture of the pool that I found by using Google.

You can get to MK either by bus or boat. Most people agree that the boat ride is the way to go...an attraction in and of itself!

Enjoy your trip! :)

The pools are usually 3.5 to 4 feet deep at the deepest part. It doesn't have a zero entry pool.

Bus or boat.

1. In Grannys pic, the area to the upper right of the pool I believe is the shallow area of this pool. As many times as we have stayed at VWL, we still spend more time in the quiet pool than the main pool, so dont know as much about the main pool.
2. We like the boat to MK. Just allow a few extra mins. as you may just miss the boat and wait 15 mins or so for the next one. Another way is catch small boat to Contemporary then walk to MK. Just a different scenario.

The wonderful pic that Granny posted actually shows the shallow end being 3FT, and that's standard except for the nearby kiddie pool just out of the picture. If you're actually staying in the Villas section, there is the quiet, Hidden Springs pool and though it doesn't have a zero entry option, it does have a shallower section right at the steps. Unlike the main pool, however, there is no water slide which your 5 yr old might want. ;) As the other posters have mentioned, you can catch either the bus or boat to MK, and each is a fine option though we are particular to the boat, as well. Enjoy your trip to our "home" at the Lodge!

Yes, our 5 year old LOVES the slides but he's not big enough for some of them - like at BWV. The resort looks gorgeous and we can't wait to go!! Are there any location requests that would be worth putting on the reservation?

Pretty much all the views at VWL are of trees, but many suites on the lake side have at least partial views of Bay Lake. We like to request third floor or higher, pool view as those rooms seem to have slightly more interesting vistas of the main Lodge, the quiet pool, and the lake. Others undoubtedly will have varying opinions. ;)

The back side of the main pool by the stream is over 5 feet, it was over my head.
There is free swim vests for the kids at the main pool.

We stayed at the villas and the 7 year old liked the pool at the villas better then main pool because of less kids and he liked the bubbles that came up from the bottom of that pool to make it look like hot springs.
