Hoping from Typhoon Lagoon to Down Town Disney

Hi all,

We will be staying at FW in late June, and just found out that our next door neighboors will be at the DW the same time. Last night we started comparing our plans at the park, and decided that we could hook up at Down Town Disney on the evening after our day at Typhoon Lagoon.

So I'm looking at the bus schedule and it looks like the same bus that runs from Fort Wilderness goes to BOTH TL and DTD.

So I'm wondering. Rather then return from a day at TL back on the bus to FW to change in our RV and then return to DTD to meet up with our neighboors, if it would be better to just take a change of clothes and rent a large locker at TL and change there and go directly to DTD.

Does anyone know if the bus from FW goes FIRST to TL and then DTD? Or does it go FIRST to DTD and then TL?

Anyone actually done this?

Thanks in advance,

Larry

Not really sure. For some reason, I'm thinking in the morning hours it is Fort/TL/DTD/Fort, then in the afternoon it is Fort/DTD/TL/Fort. Just ask the bus driver.

However, if it turns out it has already been to DTD and is going directly back to the Fort, then wait on a bus to Saratoga Springs, get off at the Congress Park stop and just walk over to DTD Marketplace.

a little off topic....but if you end up getting dropped off at Congress Park at Saratoga Springs it reallllllly is a short walk! We stayed there this past week & were so close we walked to DTD a couple of times, even though I was wearing high-heels. I've never stayed in that area of Saratoga before.

Good advice. You're basic thinking is right on.
Just a slight difference in the sequence. Buses originate at the bus hub and not the resort. Before the PI stop is open, it's MP,FW,TL,MP. Add PI after MP when the PI bus stop is open. Then it switches to MP,PI,TL,FW,MP.

Off topic, but boy, I bet Marty looked good in those high heels.

Boy, it sure is nice to have a bus jockey among us! Thanks.

Hi all,

Thanks for the heads up on taking the bus from TL to Sarasota Springs and then walking to DTD.

Ok, I gotta ask. Whats a MP? I actually went to the abbrievations list and there is no definition of it. And PI?

Marketplace, Pleasure Island

DTD has two bus stops.

The PI bus stop doesn't open till later in the morning.

Those abbreviations had me scratching my head, too.

But, just for a minute.

MP must stand for Marketplace.

And PI for Pleasure Island.

There are two bus stops at Downtown Disney: MP and PI. Depending on where you are heading at Downtown Disney, one of these will be closer to your destination.

I agree with Shanman- it is good to have a bus jockey with us.

I have tried to use these bus routes for shortcuts before.

For example, on one visit, I found that the Downtown Disney bus from Wilderness Lodge stopped at the Grand Floridian on the way. I am not sure if that is always the case, but that is what was happening on this particular visit.

Also, the bus from Wilderness Lodge to the Fort used to always become an internal Orange bus after reaching the Fort, and vice versa. That was always handy to know. But, I know that is no longer the case. I haven't yet figured out a pattern for the WL/FW bus.

It is good to know the other stops a bus may make, as it could be a way to get to where you are going faster.

For example, it seems like a lot of resorts will use the water park buses to include another stop. Since Typhoon Lagoon and Downtown Disney are so close to each other, I'll bet the Fort is not the only resort where these destinations are on a combined run.

OK, my 2 cents. If you have a vehicle, drive to TL. It is more convenient, you can change clothes & clean up there, then drive to the Market Place. You will have a place to store your clothes.

But, if you don't have a vehicle, do the bus routes as suggested.

After looking into the subjects of 'coolers' and parking, I'm going to shift strategies and do as ftwildernessrick suggested. We can take a cooler into the park with our drinks and lunch in it, and when we want to leave and go do DTD we then have a car to leave the cooler in. Parking at the water parks and DTD is free, so I think we will just take the car.

Thanks for all the help though, I appreciate it.
