hoping for advice

Well, I never expected to be going on a honeymoon in my fifties, but life is full of surprises. So late next October we are Disney bound.
After reading everything on these boards we decided to book the Animal Kingdom Lodge, savannah view. And then move on to the Polynesian, lagoon concierge.
We did not to bother with concierge at AK because we read that savannah view could not be guaranteed.
What we are curious about is what requests should we make as far as room location etc.? Or any other words of advice anyone might have. For obvious reasons I want this to be a very speial trip.

If you stay in concierge at the AKL and ask for a savannah view, you're most likely going to get it. And concierge is very worth it at the AKL. the cast members are superb.

Plus, twice a week, they have a Sunrise Safari which is only for AKL concierge guests. This is a not-to-be-missed event. It costs extra, but is worth every penny. They take you on a bus behind the scenes and tell you how they take care of the animals. Then you go on the Safari, but it's not the normal safari ride. They take much more time with the animals and you get to learn quite a bit more than you would on the regular safari. You get to see the animals when they're first coming out for breakfast and the truck will stop and give you plenty of time to watch them and take pictures. Then your group heads over to Tusker House for the best breakfast buffet on property. It's a great time and truly special. I've done it 3 times and each time was wonderful.

Have fun planning it. As for AKL Savanna View I would recommend a room on either Zebra or Kudu Trails overlooking the main Savanna.

About AKL Concierge - I have never heard of anyone not getting a savanna view room as requested.

You do not have to have a room on 6th floor concierge level... your savanna view room can be anywhere in the hotel and you can still have access to the the concierge floor and lounge.

Congrats on your honeymoon! You will have tons of fun!

We stayed at the AKL on our honeymoon. We had a 2nd floor, Zebra trail room overlooking the Arusha Savannah. It was amazing.

Have a wonderful honeymoon! You two should wear the bride and groom ears! It's so much fun, you get wonderful attention and sometimes special things! Have a magical trip!

Thanks everyone. I am still confused though. Surely everyone booking AKL concierge requests a savannah view. Is there any reason not to ? And if everyone wants it, some people must be disappointed. I hate to splurge and nt get what we want.

Hi there -

Smoking is a big reason LOL There are no smoking concierge savanna rooms - they are poolview.

Also - there are those odd people out there that prefer poolview over savanna - yikes.

Honestly - I am totally convinced - eventhough they say it cannot be guaranteed in concierge - you will recieve a savanna view room if its what you really want - and you tell them so.

Remember that 90% of the rooms at AKL are savanna view.

Thanks, it is all much more clear now. Come to think of it, I don't ever recall seeing anyone complain about going the concierge route.
