I have only one issue so far with trying to make the whether to buy or not and how many points decision. I know the annual maintenance fees can go up, but what about the point per room cost? Say I figure in 2007, 204 points will buy me the length of stay I want in the room I want, will that still be true in 2015? :confused3

Thanks,
Mel

No worries there. The total number of points for a resort cannot go up. They may shift the points around some depending on the dates of holidays, but that's it.

The total points owned at each resort cannot be changed, but the points required for any night can be reallocated by DVC. However, in order to accomplish that, if some nights are raised others must be lowered in order to keep the total points the same for the resort.

In reality, there has been only one reallocation - at OKW in 1996 - where some nights were raised, some were lowered and most saw no change at all. As each new resort has come on line, DVC has had the opportunity to modify the points required for that resort. From 1996 when BWV opened, thru 2002 when BCV opened, the point charts were basically the same as the Preferred Points at BWV.

When SSR opened in 2004, the points required were modified for that resort and the points required for AKV, opening this summer, are also different.

At this time, I do not expect any reallocation for the current resorts although it is within the ability of DVC to do that without permission of the members.

It could happen and members do need to be aware of that possibility - regardless how remote.
