Hope DVC is ready for the cars in 2022!

Just planned a Jan 2022 stay a VGF.

I have never rented a car in Orlando, and never parked at DVC. ( I did make someone else drive once and we dropped the car at the Car Care Center before the Disney part started.) But no ME put us over the edge. Our party will be flying into two non-MCO airports, visiting other places, and then bringing two cars, and flying out of MCO. Hope they have somewhere to park these!

You are only allowed one vehicle per DVC reservation to my knowledge.

Interesting wrinkle. The policy I've found right now says MEMBERS can park, but that can't be right, because right now even renters can park for free. It also doesn't say how many cars. For a GV, I think 2 cars is more than fair. Guess this is going to need some clarification with everyone bringing cars in 2022!

I don't believe that's true. We've have more than one car on multiple trips and have not run into any restrictions. It's not inconceivable that a grand villa could have 2-3 vehicles associated with it.

ETA: Treehouse villas permit only one parking space near the villa but additional vehicles can be parked in the resort lot.

You can have more than one vehicle, absent practicable concerns, e.g., the Treehouses have space for parking only one car. I question whether the end of ME will have a real impact on parking at most resorts. You have two fairly new factors working in different directions to affect car rentals -- ME will go away but you have regular disney guests giving up cars and using cabs, uber, or other services from the airport because of the parking charges beginning about 3 years ago. Likely, we will see the same problems that existed beginning before the parking fees were created-- parking can be a problem at times at BWV but usually not at other resorts.

Right, so no ME is going to put at least some of DVC and cash guests into the rent a car/drive bucket now. I mean, lugging all the car seats is a major turn off. For larger parties, even paying for parking is more appealing than a bus priced per person.

I know that I never brought a car in all my Disney stays, and my 2021 stays have no cars. But for 2022, we are flying into FLL and renting a car. I can see no ME impacting both parking and MCO, honestly.

I can’t imagine only one vehicle is allowed when many of the resorts have grand villas that can sleep 12 adults plus a child in a pack n play.

We typically fly and do DME but my parents and sister’s family both drive and there has never been an issue with them having both cars there even though they were in one grand villa unit.

And traffic on property will be bad if you include car rentals and all the ride shares... And increase in road maintenance for Disney means price increases too!
Thank youDisney

OKW has plenty of parking :rolleyes1 And for oversized vehicles, they send them over to Port Orleans.

Not sure that is exactly true. Even when I've driven, I usually used Disney Transport, except when going resort to resort.

They can always have people park at other resorts and use buses to get back to their resort. Kind of like if you bring an RV they might have you park it elsewhere.

Yea, I guess for VGF, they might send us over to the TTC.

Another way to look at it; DVC members have been paying TWICE all this time; once for the parking space, once for the DME ride. Rarely will someone both use DME and a parking space. Cue the posters telling me about the odd circumstances where they have done that. IOW, we should see a small decrease in maintenance fees when we all are just paying for parking.

Strangely enough, and I always DME so forgive me if I am way off, but I don't think this will be an issue. It seems like the parking lots are already large enough to handle the increase in cars (and I do agree, there will be a substantial increase).

I have been wondering the same thing. As a BLT owner, that parking lot is often pretty full (and then clears out after MK closes).
I think they will have to be more strict with parking for people not staying at the resort. I have heard reports that they have been more strict lately. However, I have seen on Facebook groups that people advocate making a breakfast reservation at Contemporary and then leave your car there for the day. Others will always chime in to say they shouldn't do that. But, then others will say they just did it and it was fine. I don't know if they have ever actually towed a car. They may have to start towing or ticketing vehicles that have been there for a long time (and are not resort guests).

Maybe they should go back to the system where we needed a resort parking pass on our dashboard. If you weren't staying at that resort, you had a 3 hour limit, unless you used valet.

There is the convention center and the Contemporary meeting rooms there too. I wonder how that impacts parking? I suppose they could make those people park in the MK lot and use the monorail to get there.
