Which would you choose and why??

We want to do a dinner show and have only a Tuesday available. I was bummed to find out according to the Disney site that Mickeys Backyard BBQ does not have a showing that day.

It would be myself, DH, DD 4 and DS 2. We might also have some friends join but they all have children under 5.

Both seem to be entertaining for children, both seem to have a decent menu, both are at cool resorts I would love to visit for the evening ... sooooo which is a better choice

GOOOOO popcorn::

Hoop Dee doo is very entertaining, and a fun atmosphere for kids. I wouldnt suggest the Poly show for kids...we took my kids (9 and 11) and they were quite bored! They saw the hoop dee doo 3 times and loved it (the first time they were 6 & 8) Also, the Hoop Dee doo show is the the Fort Widerness resort...they have a petting zoo (or did when I went) right outside of where you check in for the show, so it was a good way to kill time with the kids

I can't help you personally since I have not been to either one. I suggest you check out the Dining Review section of these boards for to get a good idea.

Since you only have the little ones, the kids might like Chef Mickey's or 1900 Park Fare better. :thumbsup2

I am planning on taking my family to 1900 Park Fare (at Grand Floridan) for dinner. From what I have read on these boards and the pictures that I have seen, it seems that Cinderella's step mother, and the step sisters put on quite a show. Then people have said that Prince Charming even dances with a few kids from the audience.

From what I read myself on the reviews, the Aloha tends to be long for little kids and does not keep the interest. But who knows? All kids are different.:confused3

We've done HDDR 2x when the boys were 3 and 7 and then again the next year. They absolutely loved it both times.

For a change of pace, this year (they will be 6 and 10) we will be doing the Aloha dinner show. I'm hoping they like it as well!

I thought about the Aloha show this year, but many people toldme it was a little boring for kids, so we did Hoop Dee Doo for the second year in a row. DD is 4 now (3 last year) and she loved it both times. So much so that she never realizes there is food on the table. Last year we were next to the stage and this year in the balcony, both are great spots. There really isn't a bad seat there, abnd the cast comes and mingles all over. I think HDD is one of DD's favorite things to do now. We might have to do it every year. LOL!

I would say the Hoop. We love it, & the kids will probably like that one more. We've done Spirit of Aloha also, and it was good, but I remember it being a little long.

We did the Aloha in Dec with a 8,7,5, & 5 yr old. I would not do it again a little long & boring but the food was great.

Same for us. HDDR is one of the best things we've done/seen at WDW, but we'll give the Spirit of Aloha a chance this August.

We've never done HDDR but after reading here, might give it a shot. Hard to get reservations I bet.

I alway have gotten ADRs for it in March very easily. Last year I called 2 week before going and got stage side for the late show. I suppose the early show might be harder to get in though. We did second seating this year and again had no problems.

Oh!!! this is so important for us...we just book the Spirit of Aloha for our 2 yr old and 5 yr old..I read here its boring!! really?! oh no! Should we try a different show?

We have the hoop de do down - and it seems like the favorite here.

I've never done Hoop, but I've done Spirit of Aloha with some friends and it was the perfect way to end the day. It might be a little long for a child's taste...but nobody knows your child better than you. I'd love to give Hoop a try though. If you do go to Spirit of Aloha, go there to relax, and you'll enjoy it.

We did Spirit of Aloha when kids were 6 and 8. They were not impressed at all. One that we will probably never do again. HDDR on the other hand was a hit with both kids. We are planning on doing it again this year!

I think it was about an hour and a half maybe? It could've been a few minutes longer. I know that they have 3 shows a night. One at 5:00, 7:15, and 9:30. There wasn't a whole lot of time between shows. It was really worth it for our family and we can't wait to go back this year.

Has anyone run across a seating chart for HDDR? On the ddp they only allow category 2 and 3 at the earlier seating. We were going to pay oop for one of our meals anyway. Is it worth paying oop for HDDR to upgrade to category 1 seating? My kids will definitely be ones that would want to participate if given the chance.

How long is the Hoop Dee Doo show we are going in June for the first time!!:thumbsup2

I've been to 2 shows and both were a full 2 hours.

Kids can be picked from anywhere in the place. In march the kids picked were in the balcony. And it is usually 1 or 2 if they are family.
I have sat stage side and up in the balcony and both were great spots. There isn't a bad seat in the place.
