Hoping to do HDD for the first time for our trip in late Aug. (just two of us). How fast do reservations tend to go? Which tier would you recommend? What is the easiest mode of transportation to get there (we're staying at YC). TIA
!!

They go pretty fast. Book as soon as your booking window will allow. We personally enjoy tier 1. You are right in the action but some people prefer the slightly quieter (but not really) and not as likely to be selected for anything tier 2 (back and sides of the room)or 3 (upstairs) if you have a car you can park at the entrance of Ft wilderness and take an internal bus to the settlement (all the internal buses coming from the outpost end up there) or sorry never stayed YC so Minnie van might be easy but if you can get to MK easily then you take the boat over to Ft Wilderness where you are only steps from the Hoop Dee Doo. Just remember the Hoop Dee doo has to be paid in full when you book it

We tried HDDR as a couple and only tier 2 available when we booked. Honestly I think that worked out for the best.
The floor looks fun but we felt fine not being in the middle of the action.

We were sat up stairs directly across from stage:

We booked only a few weeks out from our trip by stalking for either of 2 possible days and whatever time. After checking about 4 times we got lucky and found a reservation.

We took the MK boat over to Ft Wilderness with an ECV. From YC take the bus to MK first.

It was a joy to experience! Let me know if you have any other questions.

We’ve eaten there a few times and like tier 3. Our ds is shy and wouldn’t like being sat down at the bottom in the middle of it all. Reservations go pretty fast for the 6:30 pm time.

Reservations go fast. When we went we were at the Grand and planning on taking boat to Magic Kingdom then boat to Ft Wilderness. We We’re like over an hour before show time and the boat captain asked where we were going and we told her Hoop Dee Doo. She said if there isn’t a boat at MK when we arrive we might be late because the boats only run every 15 minutes or so. So we ran out to the front and and asked a cast member what was the best way to get there. They asked what happened and we told him what the boat captain said. He said hold on and called us a Minnie Van. It took us right near the check in and they explained that a regular lyft or Uber would drop us off and then we would have to take an internal bus. So if you don’t mind paying for the Minnie van it’s the easiest.
However it was our first time in like 20 years seeing Hoop and wow it’s so much fun. Get up early and get the reservation it’s so worth it

I would recommend any tier that's available at your preferred time. 6:30pm goes the quickest, the latest dining time (8ish?) fills last. The cast does not only interact with those closest to the stage, they are all over the restaurant. It's a lot of fun.

We’ve sat in all 3 tiers and they’re all fine. Most recently I was able to get a same day for the 4:xx show but all that was available was tier 3. We still had a great time, probably helped me eat a little less because I was watching the stage instead of facing my food. 🤣

if you are particular about time or tier, I would book ASAP.

Also never hurts to get there early and have a couple drinks at Crockets Tavern. You can sit in a rocking chair on the front porch and chill. If you have the late show, stay and watch the electrical water pageant from the beach!!!

This is all excellent info! One other question for those who e gone as a party of 2, do you get your own table or do you get seated with other parties?

Went as a party of two last summer. Tier 1 - we were seated at a table for 4 by ourselves. I second or third the Minnie van option. It dropped us off steps from the venue.

Oh good! My mom really dislikes being sat with other parties and would not enjoy herself if that was the case. The Minnie Van would be a great idea. My mom could ditch her scooter at the resort and we could take a nonacessible Minnie van. Great to hear you get dropped off close! 😁

Do I have this correct- from BLT take the monorail or walk to MK and head over to the boat to Fort Wilderness. From there walk to Hoop Dee Doo Revue

I just saw that the boat directly from BLT to Fort Wilderness reopened October 1 2023.

I forgot about the HDD. I was in the college program back in the day (ah memories). Thank you for reminding me..I need to see this again as it was a blast.

Minnie Van is close but unless she can more than 50 steps plus a couple of stairs mom is going to need her scooter. Scooters and wheelchairs go in a different door from everyone else

Good to know! She can walk “community distances” (eg can go grocery shopping, walk around her house, etc). Her balance and endurance from a cardiac condition makes it tough to do all day outings. So as long as I can hang on to her, she should be good to go! But I guess we can always see how it goes😁 Is there room for her to park her scooter somewhere if she does take it?

We like Tier 1 but we're "close to the action" type people. I will say the advantage to booking the 4:30 or whatever the 4 one is...is that there is so much food and the show takes a while and it really can fill you up for the night...gets you back into MK for the night activities and you can always supplement with a quick snack if you get hungry later on. We like the 4 for that reason.

From experience, don’t ride the teacups after eating at the Hoop Dee Doo 🤢

What is BLT?
Boats are at MK
Contemporary
Wilderness Lodge
Fort Wilderness (HDDR)
Not sure about the Poly and Grand Floridian.
Some times the abbreviations confuse me.
