Hoop Dee Doo - Best seats in the house ?

I am planning on making ressies for the Hoop Dee Doo in Sept. There will be 9 in our party. If I wanted to increase my chances of getting the seats by the stage, should I split up the party into say, 5 and 4 ? Does anyone know which show times sell quicker ? I think they are 5:30, 7:00 and 9:30 PM. I want to have the best shot at getting the stage tables. If you have any other helpful advice, I would appreciate it. Thanks

I'd like to know what people think too. We were in category 2 several tables back on the right side We were happy with our seats and our waitress gave DS a stool so he could sit higher. I think it might be fun to sit in the balcony next time. The cast interacted with people throughout the restaurant and picked volunteers from all over too (to be on stage).

One warning... this is a stage show... ever sit real close at a stage production? When actors project their voice or sing... sometimes the spit comes sailing from their mouths... I wouldn't want to sit TOO close!!!

9 in your party? You will have a blast! I can't wait to do Hoop Dee Doo again.

I think your place depends on when you call and how many others have called before you for your category. First come first served.

We had that table in Dec '09. Since we were 2 guys, the girls would dance right in front of us and occasionally tap a foot on our table. And you're right, ya want upfront book the first day you can. I booked 0n 90+10 when 90 was the limit at 6 am. I have seen a large party with a long table right in front of stage, so they don't need to split the party.

We had the center table right up against the stage once... and we got spit. We had a great view, but it wasn't very appetizing.

We've also been halfway back on the floor, middle and left sides (cat 1, before it was categorized), on the balcony in category 2, and on the floor in the back of the room, next to the last row. Our favorite spot was category 2 on the balcony. We were hoping for that the last time we went, so I booked cat 2. The hall wasn't full and we ended up on the floor in the next to last row. It was still a great show, as always, but DD couldn't see as well as she would have liked.

We're planning to go again in September. I might book category 3, just to see what we think of it.

We did this for a big 40th b'day bash, as a Grand Gathering, we had 12 at our table. Five children (under 10) and 7 adults.

I called many times and stated clearly that it was a 40th birthday party, and to PLEASE feel free to pick on the birthday girl. But they told me that they couldn't guarantee anything. I even said something upon check in, to no luck!

I was paying for this party, and I said that I wanted to the best seat in the house that would be good for the kids and adults. I am not sure what the "best seat" is, but our table was on the left. I do remember that there were a few (maybe 3) tables between us and the stage. We had one long table. Everyone in the party had a GREAT time, and no one complained about any part of the dinner and show.

All that said, we were right where the actors came off the stage, and they stopped at our table many times. They did NOT pick on the birthday girl, other than the initial "who's having a birthday", but one of the actresses used my father (in his early 60s) throughout the entire show as a little "crush" which my dad just loved much to the chagrin of my mom!

I know that we weren't at the first show, but I am not sure exactly which time we were there, as it's been a couple years.

My biggest complaint about the whole show experience was getting back to our hotel AFTER the show! We waited down by the boat doc to go back to the bus area at MK, BUT the boat was done running for the day. We stood down at the boat dock, along with about 20 other people, just waiting and waiting, because we kept thinking that we saw them coming. Finally someone suggested that we go off to the buses back in the other direction. We had to ride three different buses to get us back to the BCV. Being a little (I swear it wasn't a lot...LOL) intoxicated, the kids being super cranky by this late point, it was the end of such a nice evening, ruined by this little snafu. So I highly recommend that you do a bit of research as to how you will get yourself back "home" after your show!!!

They have buses after the two later shows, to each resort. We've always had to share a bus with other resorts, but it's not been a big deal to us. On average I think it's taken about an hour to get back to our resort afterwards, but we are sitting on a bus and relaxing the entire time, so I don't mind.

If I wanted to increase my chances of getting the seats by the stage

1) Make your ressies EARLY.
2) The earliest ressies, time/date-wise, get the best tables.
3) When the tables are assigned
. . . the first ressies gets the first table
. . . the next ressie gets the next table
. . . etc
4) There are two exceptions
. . . two Cat-1 tables (#044 & #045) are reserved for handicapped
. . . these are specifically reserved for wheelchairs
. . . they do get released prior to the show if no handicapped
4) You cannot ask for a better table when you call.
. . . you can change the category
. . . you cannot request a table location
. . . you must take what gets assigned
. . . early ressies get assigned on the 8th day before the show
. . . these are done by the HDDR table assigner
. . . ressies after the 8th day prior, get assigned by the box office

NOTE: One PP said they requested special attention for a birthday. HDDR does not do special requests. There are just too many requests (just like at many other eateries), and too little time. So, birthdays and anniversaries are celebrated en-mass. When I did assignments, we only looked at the number of guests and the time/date on the ressie, and did not look at comments or requests.
