Doing Disney After Hours in late April and was hoping to begin that experience with catching the Once Upon A Time show at Cinderella Castle at 8:45. Am I being naive in thinking we can make it to the Magic Kingdom that quickly after Hoop-Dee-Doo ends at 8'ish p.m.?

You should make it over to MK.
However...
It will be tough getting "down" Main St. once you finally get through the MK security and entrance.

Just FYI, the OUAT schedule for April is not out yet. OUAT tends to not get added to the schedule until a month’ish out.

HEA is at 9pm late April, implying OUAT will likely be 9:45pm.

If true, that timing will be just fine.

But, is it also possible that OUAT might run prior to HEA in April?
I know that is sometimes the case.
I'm just not sure WHEN.

You’re usually the one with the twilight data. :-)

In the past OUAT has sometimes been before HEA mainly (although not always) in the winter months. Although this winter it hasn’t run before at all, always after. They’ve even been running it at 8:45pm on nights the park closes/HEA is at 8pm.

Last April was always after, hence my quasi-educated guess. Emphasis on guess.

One thing I can suggest is ducking out right after the strawberry shortcake right before the show ends. That way, your in line for the boats before everyone else. And those boat line can get loooooong!

This was my first post back after a five year hiatus. Kids are out of the house (college and career), and when my GF said she wanted to go to Orlando I shrugged my shoulders with ambivalence and said "sure". Forgotten how much fun it was to plan things with the help of all of you'uns. THX!

The Disney website puts the start of DAH at 10 p.m. for Monday, April 27; however, regardless of a 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. start time that ticket will get us into the MK as early as 7:00 p.m. Taking Tonberry's advice and making sure we are on the first boat out ('round 8:15'ish???) hopefully we can make the 8:45 OUAT show. Considered doing the 4 p.m. HDDR; however, that's going to cut into time at Hollywood Studios/SW:GE which we are only allotting 4-hours of park time (late arrival that Monday in Orlando).

We love the Hoop, (have been MANY, many times) but if your time at WDW is as short as it appears, I'd drop that dinner show and make better use of your park time.

Robo - I've thought about skipping Hoop for the cost in time (and greenbacks) is material. But I love Hoop, and of the three times I've been to WDW this is my most fond memory. Funny thing there is if Hoop were playing at my local dinner theater, I'd probably say "Thanks, but no thanks." Something about the MouseMagic.

I'll give some additional thought to trading those 3+ hours in for: 1) two additional hours at HS (currently only budgeting four hours for that park), and 2) one additional hour at MK (currently only budgeting four hours for that park too). Thx for the suggestion.

This is the biggest point. Everyone heads down to the boat dock right after dinner. We had to wait through four boats before getting on one, about an hour. Jump on the first one you can. If it’s the resort boat you can walk from contemporary.

Today I reluctantly cancelled my Hoop reservations to give us an extra hour as DHS that morning and a couple of additional hours in the MK for DAH that night. Dining at The Crystal Palace won't be the same as Hoop, but that's definitely a 1st world problem. We're going in late-April, a low-crowd time of the year, thus maybe we'll sneak in an 8:30 pm Hook show if we finish at Universal Studios early one day.
