Hi,

I'm thinking of booking the HDDR for the 8.30pm show, but as we are staying at CSR and no car, will it be hard to get back after the show. Not sure if the boat will be running back to MK, where we can pick a bus up from?

Or would we better off booking the earlier show?

We did 8:30. They had couple buses right outside. Depending on resort they directed you to one and each bus went to a few resorts. Was great!

It has been reported on the Transportation Forum that there is a new process.
All buses outside of Pioneer Hall now go to the Magic Kingdom, if it is still open. This is now considered the "hub" for transportation to the different resorts.

must buses run an hour after close, so a last resort would be take the buses to the Disney Springs area, then back to your hotel

I can confirm this. We got out of Trails End late and at the depot they had a big sign up saying that all guests heading back to WDW resorts should take the MK bus. We got to MK around closing time and it was the most packed I ever saw a French Quarter bus!
