Household 6 and I are leading a family visit to WDW this August. We will have a 2 year old, a 7 year old and two elderly grandparents.

I'm looking for an evening activity that will satisfy everyone, and I've heard good things about Hoop De Doo Review. Does anyone have feedback on these questions?
  • Would a toddler enjoy the show? (He's not shy) How about a 7 year old?
  • Is it really hot in the show facility in August? How good is the air conditioning?
  • Is the show itself decent?

Thanks in advance...

Pioneer hall is a large space, it is very well air conditioned- in fact we have been chilly in there!
My 3 y/o claimed it was her most favorite show. We do this each trip on our first night, as it has become a family tradition. My husband loves the show as well- so that goes to show you it pleases everyone! Of course he's had one of the pretty actresses flirt with him each time we've been- so that helps!

The food is served family style, BBQ pork, cornbread, chicken, beans, and more. Your server just keeps bringing plates full to your table. The dessert part of the show is super fun and the dessert itself (strawberry shortcake) is delicious! The show is excellent, very humorous with lots of audience participation.
If you are on the dining plan- you will only get 2nd or 3rd tier seats. We always want first tier seats- so have paid off plan for this before. It's worth it!

You won't be disappointed with this show!

but I agree with PP.. if we went again we would pay to be closer.

We went last Aug and the hall was COLD. Actually we brought sweaters quite a few times to meals 'cause the A/C was crazy.

But my main advice to you is to not get there too early. Our tix said be there 30? min in advance. We did, and we waited outside melting. There is no shade or gift shop to wait in, and they wouldn't let us in early. I would plan to arrive shortly before the show begins so you can go right in.

We went this Jan and the show is great, our boys really loved the show and were glued to the stage. Very fun show and the table service adds to the atmosphere. It seemed very comfortable when we went temp wise. I think your little one will enjoy it. The food is quite good and beer and wine are included :thumbsup2. It is all served family style and there will definately not be a shortage of food either.

I would recommend this show to anyone.

All of you will have a great time. We sat in tier 3 on the balcony and the entertainment came up there as well. I think its better to sit on the balcony rather than way at the back on the main floor under the balcony seating. (JMHO):)

Our family (Grandma, Grampa, me, DH, DS7, and DD4) went to Hoop De Doo for the first time last fall. What a great time we had!!!!!

The food was delish and plentiful! And the show was funny in a corny kind of way... lots of singing and dancing and silly skits and jokes. VERY family-oriented entertainment.

The hall was ACed to the point where I'd almost recommend a sweater.

With the young kids, I'd recommend getting the earlier (5 p.m.) show. Book as soon as your 90 day window is open.

Good Luck!

I highly recommend it. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 We went for our grand gathering so we had grandparents, parents and 5 kids ages 10,9,7,6,5 and every single one of us loved it. The food is basic- ribs, fried chicken, corn on the cob, beans, corn bread and strawberry shortcake- and very good. They present it in a really fun way and is family style. We had one picky child and were even able to get her a hot dog since she wouldn't eat anything else on the menu. The entertainment is really fun and totally nothreatening. I would absolutely do it and agree that a cardigan is a good idea, it was cold ;)

We love Hoop de Do. Each member of the family gets to pick a dinner that no one else can complain about and our DS, who is not 21, always picks HDD as his dinner. It has become tradition for the first night. December will be the 6th time. The food is good, the service is a fun part of the ambiance, and the show is very entertaining on all levels. You can sing along, play along and do what your heart desires. You will not regret it. I agree with not getting there too early. Maybe send one adult ahead to check you in. You have to have a reservation and your table will be there. Have a great trip!

Gotta jump on the bandwagon here and say "GO!". It is so great. We went a few years ago with a group of 15: 8 adults (ages 33 to 66) and 7 kids (ages 15 months thru 15 yrs). Absolutely EVERYONE loved it -especially my parents! Good clean fun for everyone.

I recall it being cold to start and it warmed to a better level once it filled up. Food was great. Get the best seats you can afford.
