We are making our ressies on Monday. There will be 9 of us in the first of December. The kids will be 5, 10, and almost 3. Do you suggest Hoop De Doo or Mickey's backyard BBQ? Someone told us that Hoop de Doo would be better for kids older than 12. What do you think?

My 9, 6, and 3 year olds loved hddr last year. Mickey's bbq (I haven't been) sounds just like a bad company picnic, if you ask me. Hddr was awesome. I can't imagine paying the same thing to go to a company picnic.

Of course, if you're coming from somewhere international, an American picnic experience might be fun....

The bonus to the picnic would be the kids could move around and get their energy out, plus it has characters.

I however, would still recommend HDDR. I think the music and the audience interaction would keep all of your children entertained. It is such a lively experience and we saw many young children enjoying it. Plus, the food is delcious and the atmosphere is awesome.

Whichever you decide, i'm sure your children will have a magical time!

We went to both last year with 20month old and 4 year old. They actually enjoyed both. Outside of the character interaction at BBQ, the food was basically the same. We were concerned that the little one wouldn't enjoy the HDDR but she loved it. As adults, we thought the show was GREAT!! Face actually hurt from laughing. Most of the comedy is slap-stick type but still funny.

The BBQ was like mad chaos!! You get to meet Chip & Dale and I think goofy was outside for pictures when you arrive and then inside its a mad dash for a table :) If you get a table on the edge of the dance floor your good otherwise, you are definitely going to have a problem seeing your kids unless your out there yourself. Mickey & Minnie (think Chip & Dale too) spend almost the whole night out on the floor but unless your child is aggressive, they are going to miss out on the dancing fun with M&M b/c they are bombarded with kids :) You can imagine that scene! Anyway, with your kids being slightly older, I would go for HDDR b/c they will be entertained, food is same and its a much for controlled evening for all!!

We love the HDDR, and haven't been to the Barbeque.
I went to the HDDR with my 4 and 6 yo Grandkids and they loved it. The 4 year old was chosen to go on stage and he was totally enthralled. We all had a wonderful evening and lots of fun.
I would recommend it.

HDDR! It's better for children of ALL ages (read, the adults will like it MUCH more!).

Remember to bring your corny sense of humor. If you don't have one, drink some extra sangria!:goodvibes
