Hoop De Doo / AP Discount!

Hello - this is sort-of a restaurant question, sort of an AP technicality question - hoping someone can help me out.

I will be upgrading my as yet unused 5 day hopper to an AP when I arrive in June. Looking to book Hoop De Do. Can not book with AP discount online, because my AP is expired......can I call and book the AP Discount for the event and just show my then current card at check in, or do I have to book at non-AP discount price (online or by phone) and request a refund at check in? Planning to go on our arrival (non park) day and activate pass the next day.

so.....by way of refund? I ask because it is one of the ones you have to pre-pay for. Otherwise, no biggie, I know to show my card at the restaurants......

You pay full price when you book it. On the day of your meal, check in (get your meal ticket), then go to the guest services spot to the left of Pioneer Hall (it's to the left of the restrooms), show your AP there and you'll get a refund to your cc. You can do it before your meal.

This is what we did! I had called to book w AP and they said to do this. Cannot be booked w a discount over the phone.

Wow, heading to Hoop de Doo tonight and I didn’t even know there was an AP discount! Glad I did a search for info on the show. Hope I don’t need to present the actual credit card I used to book, I can’t remember which one it was.

edit - we both picked up our ticket and got the AP refund at the same window to the left of the Pioneer Hall entrance.

Just a personal account here but I was able to call Disney and get my AP discount refund after the fact. My son wandered off as we were leaving AK to take Minnie Vans to Hoop de Doo dinner. After a terrifying 15 minutes we located him, but were now late for our reservation with no time to properly check in and get the AP discount refund. Once home I called Disney and the discount was refunded to my card pretty quickly. Super helpful!
