Hoop de Doo ~ a video & report for you! October * MNSSHP * Characterpalooza 1/19/17 Update

I have not been to Animal Kingdom since 2013. I am excited to finally go back!
I really like the puzzle idea. My ds loves puzzles but all those pieces I see why it took almost two hours!
Cannot wait till October!!! Is that a bag already packed in your video! lol

Hi Cyndi! Found your TR link :yay: Oct/Nov. are my favorite months to go and MNSSHP is my all-time favorite thing at WDW!!! We did it last year after missing it for 3 years and I was SO glad to see the Boo To You Parade again, which I also happen to think is the best parade Disney does lol. And on the subject of "not so scary" things, Madame Carlotta taking Nicholas on HM has to be just about the coolest and sweetest thing I've heard one of the characters doing :cloud9: What a wonderful memory for all you guys to have!

LOL - that was the bag packed for our last trip - and our pup would always lay down in it!!! We skipped Animal Kingdom in 2013, but then hit it last year and everyone really enjoyed it. I'm thinking kinda because they could now go on Everest and Dinosaur?

Everyone's still teasing me about that puzzle, LOL - it was "supposed to" take about 30 minutes!!!!

HI and welcome!!!!! I have to agree - fall is our absolute favorite time! Nicholas is so in love with Madame Carlotta - he's already been talking about seeing her on our next trip, LOL! Pure Disney magic for us!

Oh that video is awesome! So many great memories already and more to come.

Hi and welcome :) Thank you so much! We never looked at what we video taped while we were there - so it was so much fun for us to go through the clips when we got home!!!

LOL - I have a "Disney box" with stuff that I pick up here and there that I know we're going to take! You're not the only crazy!!!

Dev just may change his mind - Nicholas had never been on a roller coaster prior to this trip. He did Rock n Rollercoaster and Ex Everest - and loved them! Though he did say he absolutely will NOT be going on RNR again. Oh - and Tower of Terror - that's his new favorite! Sometimes these kiddos surprise us!!!

Sorry I haven't updated in forever! My dad was sick, and in hospice at our home, and unfortunately passed away on the 15th. So, Disney has taken a backseat to everything going on. I'm hoping to update more this week - and to work on the planning of our October trip - I think it will cheer us all up :)

DAY 4 / PART 2 ~ HOOP DE DO REVUE, MAGIC KINGDOM
Soooo, after resting up in the afternoon, and getting some swimming in, we headed over to Hoop De Do Revue. Though I originally didn't really want to go to this one, I'm soooo glad we did. Everyone had an absolute blast (DH is begging to book it again this year, LOL)! The food was really good - and everyone enjoyed their meals (and that's saying a lot with this group - being able to find something that everyone likes, LOL)!

So first we checked in, got our pictures taken and hung out for a few :)

And then started out with salad and drinks. This was a big selling point to the guys - beer (and wine & sangrias) was included!

And more food - ribs, chicken, cornbread, potatoes, mac & cheese......mmmmmm.......

And everyone really enjoyed the show. We had great seats, the kids could see everything and then DS9 was picked to be part of the show!!! He did a great job (we had absolutely no idea how he would react)!

We were so full after the meal - like, stuffed, so we decided to head over to MK and walk off all our meals!!!

It was nice and not very crowded at all. We managed to hit every ride that we wanted to, even doing 7DMT a few times!

And of course, Haunted Mansion multiple times!

And saw the fireworks from Big Thunder Mountain :)

After a long day, we headed back to Beach Club - we needed to be up early for rope drop at Hollywood Studios (wanted to sign the kids up for Jedi)......

I keep trying to make it to HDDMR! I keep thinking I will finally get to Disneyland in may for my 30th birthday but there is so much I still want to do at wdw for the first time i may just go back. Then the flights from georgia are a whole other issue!

I'm dying to go to Disneyland too - the flights for us are a killer as well!!! So, we just keep going back to WDW, LOL!

DAY 5 ~ HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS, JEDI TRAINING, MAMA MELROSE

So, today was our Hollywood Studios day - and we had one mission - Jedi Training. Another one of our friends were meeting us there, so we had a group of 12! We got to the gates before opening and seriously took off running when they opened, LOL! We didn't go crazy, but certainly were in a hurry!!! We managed to get there and signed up very quickly and received the time we wanted! So then we had some time to spare beforehand. Where to go? Of course Star Tours (which kinda makes me want to yack, but I go on it anyway, LOL)!

Shortly after walking around and going on Star Tours - we were due back for Jedi Training. The kids had a blast battling Darth Vadar :)

With Jedi done - we were on to the rides! The kids ended up going on Tower of Terror more times than I can count. I went about 5 times, after that I was done!

We were really wanting to hit Characterpalooza, but had a hard time figuring out where to go. We lucked out, remembered that it should be near the exit of Tower Of Terror. So we hung out back there - and voila - the doors opened and there were lots of characters to see. We had plenty of time to interact with all of them.

We were starving by this point and headed off to our reservation at Mama Melrose. We arrived a few minutes early - and then had to wait probably 20 minutes or more to be seated. The food was average, the service was not great. We ordered nothing unusual, but we ended up there over two hours? By the time the food came, the kids weren't even interested in it. It was a bit of a letdown. We had only booked it via that Fantasmic Package - but wouldn't do it again.

After the meal, the kids were anxious to go to the Frozen singalong - and then the play area. We arrived right before the show started, but all managed to find seats. The singalong was a lot of fun for everyone (and a welcome relief from the sun and heat). After the show, we headed over to the Frozen play area. We were joking that you would have thought the kids had never seen snow before (which is not the case, since we live in Michigan, LOL)!!!

After Frozen stuff - we just kept going on Tower of Terror I think? We were basically waiting around until Fantasmic.

This was our first time seeing Fantasmic. Everyone really enjoyed it - it was just really crowded - like super crowded. And leaving afterwards was a nightmare. But, still a great evening. After the show we shopped a bit and then headed over to the boat to head back to Beach Club.

We had a bit of a wait for the boat, but then a quick ride back - we hung out on the dock just a bit because you could see a few of the fireworks from Epcot.

We headed back to our rooms for bed - and to prep for our next day!

Up next pixiedust: Day 6 ~ Hollywood Studios ~ MK ~ A&E ~ Epcot ~ Via Napoli

LOVED the video!! I may or may not have teared up a few times...you have no proof!! LOL

My husband is also a firefighter here in Philadelphia. I'm so glad your family enjoys WDW and that your son has really blossomed with each visit.
