Hook's Point for Dinner?

Hi All,

I'm being very wishy-washy on upcoming dinner plans. I've been thinking about Avalon Cove or Napa Rose (I'm staying at GC). I just looked up the Hook's Point menu on Mouseplanet, and this menu seems to be the most appealing and diverse, and not quite as expensive. I think I ate there before when it went by a different name, and I really liked it then.

Any comments from anyone who's eaten there within the past couple years or so? How's the food and atmosphere?

Hook's Point is a nice restaurant, last time I ate there was probably a year or two ago. I think the food and atmosphere at Avalon Cove are better though, and I can only imagine that the food at Napa Rose is the best of all three (I have yet to eat there). But Hook's Point is not a bad place. Not much of an atmosphere, just a normal restaurant inside (no view) and decent food, mostly grilled items.

Enjoy! :)

Thanks for the info Michelle! Anyone else have other opinions?

Michelle (or other frequent visitors and southern CA residents), can you tell me what time the sun has been setting there lately? One of the webistes says around 6:30 or so.

Also, does anyone know what the last dinner seating is if DCA closes at 6:00 p.m.? I really wanted to enjoy Paradise Pier at night with the lights and everything, which is one of the reasons I was considering Avalon Cove.

We ate breakfast at Hooks Pointe every morning while we were attending the Disneyana Convention. The food was good at breakfast. I had my Wilderness Lodge Refillable Coffee Mug with me and I left it on the table. I reported it to lost and found, and it was never returned to me. I was disappointed. I loved that mug.

Yep, 6:30 is about right for sunset, it's 6:15 here now and the sun is setting. :)

I believe that when DCA closes at 6:00 pm they do not serve dinner at Avalon Cove, only lunch. Not positive on that, but I'm pretty sure.

<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font color=navy>I've eaten at both Hooks Pointe and Avalon Cove and enjoyed both of them. I enjoyed the atmosphere at HP - it's a subtle Peter Pan aqua theme. The food was good, and the chocolate cake w/pudding inside dessert was delish! Avalon Cove is more upscale, with a nice view of Paradise Pier. The food I had there was also delish. (I can't comment on Napa Rose since I haven't eaten there, but the restaurant looks to be very very nice.)

I don't think you'll go wrong with either choice.

We went into Hook's Point, not really hungry and not expecting much. Everyone really liked it. I think it is one of the under appreciated restaurants at the Disneland Resort. I have not gottend to try Avalon Cove (Menu doesn't appeal to me) or Napa Rose. We enjoyed our lunch at Storytellers though. I will be returning to Hook's Point on my next trip.

California native here. ;)

I've been to Avalon several times, and the chicken is quite good...I've never strayed from that, as I don't like fish.

I believe that Hook's is, one of the, if not THE BEST restraunt around. I ordered a steak there (special of the day) a few months ago, and the thing was so delish, that I can still taste it when I think about it (now that's some good food!). Their apple tart desert is very yummy, but stay away from the bruschetta type appetizer.

Definitely a place to try.

We really liked Hook's Pointe, (and even the bruschetta! - we loved it) , but for a very special meal and nice atmosphere, I would say to go for the Napa Rose. As you can see by their prices, they are certainly "a cut above" the others. For a good all-round meal, I would also try Hook's Point if you have the time.
