hong kong disneyland

Wow, that was a smoking hot thread on cultural differences!

Eyorerulz, give me a few weeks, and I'll get back to you. I did a helicopter fly-over at Hong Kong Disneyland last spring, and at the beginning of November I'll be going back to Hong Kong to see the park (and the hotels) at ground level. I should be posting sometime around November 10, when I get back.

The bare facts: Hong Kong Disneyland has started small, with a cut-back Magic Kingdom. More is in the works, but Disney is going cautiously slow on this one. A small "Downtown Disney" should be opening about now (a few restaurants and shops outside of the park.)

And I know I'll enjoy it going there - despite all you may have read on that other thread about spitting, public urination and what not, I've travelled a lot throughout China and have always enjoyed it. Hong Kong is an autonomous part of China, and they are very proud of the fact. (Being a European who has lived a long time in the US, and travelled extensively there as well, I get the itch to talk about some strange cultural traits in the good ol' U.S. of A. - but I'll resist that for the moment ...
