My future husband and I have already booked with the Wilderness Lodge in early October but I was looking and I saw that you can get governmental rates at the Swan (fiance works for FAA). I like that the Swan is within walking distance from Epcot, the boardwalk, and MGM but I do not want to lose that Disney magic that the Wilderness Lodge might have. I also want to know how good the ransportation was to the other parks and water parks. I allso wanted to know if the swan has refilable mugs or not. Thank you all for your time.

The Swan uses Disney transportation, so you would get the same service as the other Epcot resorts. You will have boat to Epcot and DHS, and bus to AK and MK. The buses are shared between the Epcot resorts.

They don't have the refillable mug program.

The Swan does use the WDW bus transportation but not Magical Express, so take that into consideration when planning on how to get to and from the airport.

The Swan is a very nice resort and is close to Epcot and MGM as well as the other Epcot resorts, but if you are really interested in the "Disney Magic" then WL cannot be beat. The lodge is simply wonderful and really pulls you into the Disney magic and access to magic kingdom is very easy.

IMHO WL is the winner hands down, but the Swan does offer great pricing specials and access to Epcot and MGM is very enticing indeed.

I stayed at the WL for my honeymoon and give it a 2 thumbs up from a guys point of view. Lots of quiet places to cuddle-up, nice hot tub and pool, close to most everything.

Mickey delivered Disney magic - balloons, chocolates and a card to congratulate us.

We had a cozy nap in one of the upper fireplace lounges.

We found the handicap accessible room with King size bed and large enough for 2 shower, perfect for honeymoon stay!

I would vote WL. I just think the whole thing sounds more romantic.

I agree stick with WL. We stayed here on our honeymoon in 2000, and it is still our favorite place to stay. If we were not dvc we would stay here, but since we are know dvc and we saty for two weeks we explore the dvc resorts.

I so agree. You only have one honeymoon, hopefully..... I am sure you will get enough $$ at the reception to more than cover the difference of the discount. The romance is all over the WL even for us when we first stayed there in our 40's. It is such a beautifully relaxing place.....

I have stayed at both and love them both. I think the Swan has a slight edge for me because we love the proximity to Epcot and the Boardwalk which are 2 of our favorite things at WDW! Either way, you can't go wrong. Have a great Honeymoon.

We stayed at the WL for our honeymoon in 2003 and loved almost everything about it. I would definitely stay there again EXCEPT make sure that you let them know that you are on your honeymoon and do not accept a room that overlooks the main atrium. We got woken up every morning with the loud rousing lobby music and the waiters yelling at the top of their lungs from Whispering Canyon Cafe. It just wasn't honeymoon ambience. If we had had a quieter room it would have been 100% perfect. I loved being able to take a ferry right over to the MK.

I found WL feels more Disney than the Swan. WCC is a great place to eat and riding the boat the MK everyday was so much fun. It's relaxing and the grounds are beautiful.

Definately WL:thumbsup2

place is awesome....very romantic....lots of nooks and crannies to
snuggle in:love:

I would definitely go with Epcot Resort area for an adult only trip. Being able to walk to Epcot in minutes, MGM, a bit longer, all the nice dining options in the area, and especially for those late nights at Jellyrolls. ;)

And don't forget the Heavenly Beds at S/D!

Wilderness Lodge, no question. There is a serious WOW factor when you are there.

That being said, go to the Swan one night and go to Kimonos for the sushi. best ever.

Will the Swan guarantee you a king-size bed? If so, I'd choose that. We found the WL rooms to be very small, especially with two beds in the room. We were bumping into each other constantly. We had the feeling all of the wow factor was in the lobby and they skimped on the rooms. The Swan rooms are small, as well, but either room would be better with one bed, so I'd go with Swan if they'll guarantee a king (WL won't).

Also, if you like fine dining, I'd go with the Swan due to the proximity to lots of great restaurants. If you plan on spending most of your time at MK, then stay with WL.

Finally, although sometimes overlooked and somewhat pricer unless you rent points, a one-bedroom DVC villa at WL, BWV or BCV would be wonderful for a honeymoon. You're guaranteed to have a king size bed and jacuzzi tub.

I was going to suggest what the previous poster did I would rent points and stay at WL because you can get a 1 BR w/jacuzzi and probably cheaper than the Swan and even if its not cheaper you still have all the amenities and the Disney Magic right there with you. Then you also have the privacy of the DVC pool and Hot Tub with a lot smaller crowd to disturb you. The trails and wooded grounds are ideal for that private stroll and quite time you will be looking for with your significant other. Don't forget WL has some of the best and quite restaurants on Disney property with the exception of the lobby.
Hope this helps.
Have Fun!!!

Stay with WL, we love it. Artist Point would make a wonderful honeymoon dinner. You could also take the boat over to GF to eat one night or to CR to eat at the CG. Swan does not have the same "magic" I have stayed at both.

You can use Magical Express with WL, but with the Swan you have to set up your own transportation to and from the airport.
