Day 1: Lets Get It On Board

The first part of our honeymoon was 4 nights at Pop Century and we had a fantastic time and got quite a few honeymoon perks and tons of congratulations. We used Florida Tours for our transportation to and from Airport -> Pop -> Cruise -> Airport. They were great so far, got us to port on schedule.

We made it!

We have been on only one cruise prior to this one and it was with Carnival and everything was arranged and taken care of by someone else so we were slightly clueless when we arrived in the terminal. I get overly stressed when I feel rushed and don't know what to do! Thankfully one of our wonderful DIS friends and table mate Jane (MJ5MOUSE) saw us and came to our rescue. She was wonderful and told us what we needed to do.

After we got all that taken care of we met yet another DIS friend Lindy Loo and her adorable daughter Elouise. They were soo nice they saved us a place in line for Mickey. Seriously I'm so grateful to have made these friends before we cruised as they made things go more smoothly and helped out so much. We would not have waited in the Mickey line so because of them we got this great photo with Mickey that I adore. And we got to see Elouise interact with Mickey too, so cute!

After that we sat and waited to join the line to board the ship and got some of our items organized.

Boarding the ship was very exciting especially announcing us with our new married last name. Right away we knew we would enjoy this ship much more than the Carnival ship we had cruised on previously. So much cleaner and more up to date..just a hundred times better.

We went and had some food...I wasn't that impressed with the selection but I'm a picky eater.

We wandered out on deck and another honeymooning couple offered to take a photo for us if we did the same for them. Then Jake got back into figuring out the ship. Seriously everywhere else he is beyond awful with directions but for some reason he had this ship figured out day 1 and was always correcting me. It was some kind of navigational miracle.

We then went to check out our stateroom. It was all ready for us including the stateroom gift I had ordered. Champagne and sweets.

Had to check out our verandah. We had a lovely view of dumpsters and luggage carts! With just the 2 of us it's hard to get a full picture of both of us so we have to get creative sometimes - reflections work wonders.

As we were leaving (late  ) for meeting our DIS friends by the Mickey pool we noticed that Linda had stopped to decorate or stateroom door for us and we didn't even hear her! Sneaky. It was sooo wonderful what she and the rest of our tablemates did for us. They each had a green (our wedding color) heart and put on a quote to do with love. I nearly started crying and we were both so impressed and touched by them all. I have them saved to put in our scrapbook.

We finally made it to meet our friends. Said our hellos and chatted a bit but all left shortly to get ready for the safety drill.

Jake's favorite part of cruising!

After all that fun we went back to the stateroom and found these honeymoon pins waiting for us.

We went and enjoyed the sail away party somewhat. It was pretty loud and we kept moving around. But we had drinks so all was well.

Before getting ready for dinner we enjoyed the sunset on our verandah.

Finally headed to dinner. Stopped for a picture with Mickey & Minnie first. Then headed to Tritons where we were dining on this first night. Tritons is my favorite of all 3, I love the design. Sadly I was feeling a bit loopy that first night. I had got a sinus infection the day before and getting to its worst point this night, I took some medication for that, dramamine, and had some drinks and I was feeling every movement of the boat. So I was out of it! Still I enjoyed it as much as I could...and at least I wasn't sea sick.

The dinner went well enough. Our servers seemed friendly. The food was good. For my entree I orderd chicken and fries. Vijay our server was great about me ordering fries and he made the best Mickey head ketchup. It was a running joke with me and him from then on that I'd be ordering "chicken, chicken, and chicken" Jake was much more adventurous with his meal choices and he loved nearly all of them. We also got served the special occasion cake since it was our honeymoon and it was actually quite delicious I thought. I did notice that we were the very last table to leave Tritons that night and it seemed to set the standard for the rest of the cruise. Perhaps we were slow...or maybe it was the service :confused3 but I guess someone has to be last and we had good company!

After the meal we went back to our stateroom and I then noticed that Jakes pants had paint rubs on both of his hips. Realizing it had to be from the chairs at Tritons since that was the only place he had worn them Jake called housekeeping or laundry or whoever and explained the situation and told them we needed them cleaned ASAP and at no charge to us. They agreed and the pants were taken that night and returned the next afternoon paint free. :thumbsup2

Since I was feeling worse and worse with the sinus infection we decided to check out the gift shop and see if they had anything I could take...

No...that won't work... :p but they sure do have everything. We found a couple items marked for cold & flu and Jake said those would help some. He got questioned quite a bit for buying them though and lied and told him it was for his allergies. Sure sure, Jake. The guy totally didn't believe him.

After that...more pictures of course!

We finally went to Wavebands and found a booth way in the corner of the room. Nice and cozy! But it did take forever to get a waitor to take our drink orders. I kept looking to see if any of our tablemates were there but I couldn't see anyone. It was fun but I was so groggy I could barely keep my eyes open so after the required picture (I even look sick in this one I think) we headed back to our stateroom and went to bed.

Kelly I am so glad you posted your first day! You and Jake took REALLY good photos!
