My fiance and I are going on our honeymoon to Disney World and are torn! We were originally planning on going for a minimum of 7 nights, and still are. BUT we might be able to go for 2 weeks.

The problem with it is our work schedules and if we don't get 2 weeks off we can only go for 1. So if you were in our situation (were both askign b/c were indecisive), would you save money and go for 2 weeks later in the year when you could get 2 weeks off (like 5 months after the wedding), or would you just go for 1 week right afterwards and not go again for a year a half?

And we say save money with 2 weeks b/c then we can go for 2 weeks since we don't have to pay double the traveling fees. But we can't afford to go twice in the same year with the travel costs.

Votes!

i voted for right away because it is your honeymoon. i think you might be disappointed if you don't go right after the wedding. I know that you said you can't afford both because of travel costs but you didn't say if you could get the time off twide. if you can take a week now and the 2 later, I would say do something close and cheap now and disney later. you just want some downtime after the wedding to relax and enoy being married. you could be at the mall and be happy.

So far I am the only vote for wait 5 months.
That's what we did (only three months, but same idea) and we were really glad we did. We did take a long weekend right after the wedding at the beach (we got married at the beach as well). That was nice and we got to enjoy some R&R. But we were so stressed out and over tired and frazzled after our wedding, I think WDW would have been too much! We are both low key, calm, take it as it comes types so we had zero experiance dealing with stress. We were silly enough to think we would not get stressed over it- ha!
We had a wonderful time when we did go and were able to enjoy everything WDW had to offer.

I voted for later, also, because once you get there, you are not going to want to leave! ::yes::

We left for our honeymoon at Disney the night after our wedding (we left on a red-eye Sunday night)....in hindsight, I would have gone for 2 weeks a few months later if that was an option I think. As long as we could have gone somewhere cheap for at least a few nights right after the wedding. We were (at least I was) so tired and wired/frazzled from the wedding, the long flight, etc., I did not really start relaxing until the day before we left! (We were there 5 nights). Now, I was also dealing with the time change, I don't know if you will have to deal with that...

I voted for right away. The reason, planning a wedding is soooo... stressful. We went to Aruba for our honeymoon & somedays the ONLY thing that kept me sane was saying to myself - We're going to Aruba, we're going to Aruba. That was the light @ the end of the tunnel (along with my husband - of course:sunny: )

I voted for the 1 week right away but that wouldn't be my first choice.

First of all, a honeymoon is only a honeymoon if it occurs right after the wedding. A trip 5 months later is a vacation. At least that's my opinion.

Secondly, after everything involved in planning the wedding, its really nice to get away for a little while to decompress before getting back to life.

Personally, I would consider honeymooning somewhere other than Disney if you are regular Disney visitors. Make the honeymoon special. Go somewhere you've never been. Do Sandals or take a cruise or go to Europe. My wife and I went to Sandals in Jamaica and had an incredible time. That was July 1992. Then we went to Disney in September 1992 for regular vacation.
