I just made a reservation for here in january but now im having some apprehension due to the many negative reviews. What does everyone really think of this place? Any pictures? I had similar reservations about eating at San Angel Inn last April and landed up loving it there. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I ordered my steak medium. The outside was black. The inside was red. I guess if you average those together ... I forget what DW ordered, but she did not care for her meal as well. The dessert was good.

We ate there because we stayed at CBR. We won't go back to Shutters.

I have eaten just about everywhere and have had positive experiences with 3 glaring exceptions, Hollywood and Vine (lunch), Shutters at Old Port Royale (dinner), and Alkershus (lunch).

Of course everyone has different tastes and even the best restaurants have off nights.

Still, I'm not willing to give those a second try. There are too many good restaurants on property to revisit those.

I have had 1 bad meal there out of three and it may have been because I had a migrane. Here are the items I like and have always been good, the shrimp fritter app., the black bean soup, and the tres leche dessert (this is excellent).

DH and I ate there twice last year when we stayed at CBR. We enjoyed our meals there. If I stayed at CBR I would eat there again but otherwise would not. It was convienent and yummy enough that we opted to add a second reservation mid week.

I had a good experience there, but wouldn't go back unless I was staying at CBR again. My mom got steak, which she enjoyed, and I got Caribbean Pasta. The sauce on it just wasn't my taste, but it definitely wasn't bad and everything tasted fresh - I just personally didn't love it. I will say that the service was by far the best we had all trip - our waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. There's really nothing outstanding about the menu, so I probably wouldn't go out of your way to eat here.

did not care for it at all. the prime rib was tough. hubby's steak, too.

We ate there BEFORE it was Shutters and after it became SHutters. Both times were abysmal. The food was not good and the wait staff oblivious and hard to find.We won't go back

Yikes. We're eating here in December and now I'm not so sure... We really want to try it (it's one of the only places we haven't eaten), but I'll go in with a level head.

Kevin did a review not too long ago on their experience there if you haven't heard it check out the podcst and blog for it. I'd say that was a pretty honest opinion if I ever heard one! We dined there 3 years ago did not have the same experience it was average nothing memorable either way, but it was 3 years ago.

This restaurant actively competes against Capt Jack's for worst restaurant on WDW property.

Wow - that's a lot of negative reviews!!

We were staying at CBR in 2009 and ate at Shutter's on our arrival day. I was a bit concerned because the reviews always seem to be bad on here but honestly we had a lovely meal there. I had a shrimp and chicken pasta (or maybe it was rice?) with Caribbean seasoning and my husband had the steak which he loved. I honestly can't remember what my boys had but they both loved their meal. My DH and DS both raved about the plantains as a side dish - they thought they were awesome. Our server was friendly and I liked the restaurant. And I really enjoyed not having to rush off to somewhere else on our arrival day so it was very relaxing for us.

Just check out the menu before you go (I'm sure it's on-line here somewhere) and I'm sure you'll find something you'll enjoy.

If I was to stay at CBR again I would not hesitate to plan a meal here again. :goodvibes

My two cents...

If I were staying at CB I would definitely give Shutters another try. We had dinner there once, and although it wasn't memorable, it was VERY good. I could not complain about the food at all. The Plantains and Black Bean Soup were excellent!

I went to shutters once - and despite the negative reviews. I really liked it. I had a plantain crusted red snapper that was excellent. The only reason I haven't been back is that they took it off the menu. I thought the service was really good too.
