We are currently booked at HRH for our 3/12-3/17 Universal vacation and I am really beginning to worry that this might not be the right hotel for us to stay in. It will be myself and my husband going and we are well middle aged! Our children are all grown up and we are grandparents so I am not sure if we will appreciate the HRH. I am more worried about the time that we are going it is going to be spring break and I am thinking that more college age kids will be looking to stay at the HRH. Not to be a party pooper but our partying days are so over so I am not sure if we will appreciate having neighbors who are just enjoying themselves but keeping us awake. So I am leaning towards the RPH, can anyone give me an honest review of either hotels? Or do you just think that I am worrying for nothing and I should just stick with the HRH? My husband doesn't really care, he is just happy to being going to Universal and staying on site so that we don't have to wait in the lines. Any help would be appreciated..thank you

You will probably enjoy the RPH better. It is newer with a warmer ambiance.

We've stayed at the RPH for 6 years in a row. The grounds are beautiful and the staff is top-notch. I'm sort of picky and believe me we would have left during our first stay had I not been pleased. The rooms are the smalles of the 3 hotels @ 330 sq .ft.=a 10x13 bedroom. Really not bad- The restaurants are very good. We never heard any noise-except around 9am when families were leaving for the parks. This coming summer we're staying @ Portofino just to try a new hotel-really I'm nervous about not liking it as much as we do the RPH. Julie

I'm also going to try the PBH next year so I've done all 3.
The RPR is the favorite around here, and is the least expensive.
The PBH has an Italian theme, you'd probably like it better. Only thing is, it costs the most. Seems kinda backwards, the HRH should cost the most since it's closest to the parks and selling out.
If you do decide to switch, don't give up your HRH ressie until you have the new one booked and confirmed.

We stayed in PBH in September just my DH & I and we LOVED it. We walked past the HRH- which ALWAYS sounded like there was a party going on! I am sure it is a lot of fun- and when our girls are teens & we go we'll stay there, but our next adult only trip we are staying either at PBH again or RP :)

I vote for Portofino Bay Hotel. Its quiet, elegant and beautiful. How could you go wrong. I think it is perfect for two adults. We have stayed there twice and going back again this coming summer. Trust me you won't be sorry with this hotel. Ask for west wing-closer to everything.

Either PBH or RPR would be a better choice for you, imo. The Hard Rock is great for teens, young adults, etc., but not the most condusive to R & R.
