Hi!

I have a reservation for both hotels for Halloween time, but I don't know wich one to cancel.

I first made reservations for Residence Inn. When I started planning many month ago, I thought that it would be the best place to stay. It was number one on Trip Advisor for the Garden grove area and the reviews were great. But last reviews are not that great....

Homewood suites has brand new furniture in each room, and customer reviews, that were good a few months ago, are even better now. Also, the one bedroom suite seems to be a little bigger (600 square feet instead of 500 at Residence Inn). But Homewood suite is a little further from the parks, and is a little more expansive than Residence Inn, for which I got and incredible rate.

Did anyone on this board ever stayed to both hotels, so I could get comments ?

Thanks !

Have a good day!

I was just wondering the exact same thing. I have reservations at both Residence Inns (the one on Clementine that is close and the Garden Grove one on Harbor that is a mile away). I got an awesome rate at the Garden Grove - almost $100 less/day than the Clementine one. It will end up saving us so much on our trip if we can stay at the GG one. I was a little dismayed about the reviews and worried that the place is going to be a complete wreck!

I have only stayed at the RI in GG and can tell you that we loved it! We had a 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom that slept 8! It had bunkbeds for the kids, 3 tv's and a kitchen with all of the pots/pans/utencils, etc... It was very roomy for us and having 2 bathrooms was HUGE for 6 girls getting ready each morning. Breakfast was free each day and was very good!

I highly recommend it! Sorry I can't compare the two for you!

We've stayed at all three, but I do have to add a disclaimer that it's been a couple of years ago, so I'm no help at all if you're looking for feedback on current conditions.

Personally I'd rank them:

1 Homewood
2 RI Harbor
3 RI Clementine*

*we stayed at this one right before scheduled renovations though, so it was looking pretty shabby at the time, plus we had a problem with ants in our room. Could have happened anywhere, but still a little hard to get past.

Honestly though, I'd say if the price difference is more than a few bucks, go with the one where you got the best deal. There's just not that much difference in terms of quality and/or amenities IMO.

We are staying at the Homewood Suites in 12 days. We got a great rate by prepaying for the room.

We've stayed at both and I'd choose RI Maingate over the Homewood any day. I love the layout of the RI, it's so spread out (but not too much) and quiet. The rooms have always been clean and comfy. The Homewood was okay but it felt kind of cheap compared to the RI.

We stayed at Homewood for 7 nights this last July, in a newly remodeled room - first time we've ever stayed more than a few hundred yards away from DL. It is now our 1st choice when we stay off-site. Never really had an issue with ART. Sorry, like others, I've only stayed at Homewood.

We just stayed at RI. We had a 2 bedroom kids suite and it was great. It did need a bit of updating (the sofa really needed to be replaced), but it was clean and comfortable overall. And the RI is the first shuttle stop if you take ART and there were only 1-2 other stops depending on day, so it was quick.

We're at Homewood at the moment, and everything has been great. New furniture, although the caarpet is still a little old, full size fridge, stove top only, dishwasher, etc. They did our grocery shopping for us, even with the brands requested!!!

I think the big thing is the great attitude of the staff. DH and I were talking earlier, and we would stay here again.

Oh, and we have 2 plasma tvs. The lift is slowish, but nothing too bad. breakfast is fine, something hot, maake your own waffles, juices, toast, bagels, etc. And a few cerials (for the past two mornings it has been raisen bran / and a couple a different sugary ones)

there are three washing machines and dryers. Housekeeping is great as well.

PS - I'm typing on a tiny Asus Eee and it doesnt have a full size ekyboard - pls excuse my typing!!

We're 3 time guests of Residence Inn GG. Never had a complaint staying there. Granted, our last trip was 11/06 so things could be different.
Based on my exeriences, I'd go with RI since it would be cheaper for you. Distance shouldn't be an issue since they're across the street from each other and share (I believe) the same ART bus.
