Homewood Suites Main Gate (Palm Parkway)

Anyone been to this particlar Homewood Suites?

I'm looking for any tips for getting around traffic. I've read about some shortcuts and I'm hoping to find one coming from this hotel.

Also, do you know if there are any chain like restaurants/fast food places very close by?

How far is the big Walmart?

My sister & family stayed there in March 2004, had 2 rooms & they loved it!

tips for traffic, which parks are you going to? If you are going to Universal, you can follow Palm Pkwy which will turn into Turkey Lake Rd & its one straight shot that runs sort of parallel to I4. If you are doing Disney, Palm Pkwy is about a block down from Hotel Plaza Blvd which is the entrance for the Down town Disney hotels. Once you go past the hotels & get to the light to either go to Downtown Disney to the left, if you turn right instead, then take your 1st rd on the left & you will weave your way thru the golf course & I think past OKW. I like taking this way because of less traffic. You will come out close to Epcot & can find the other Parks from there as well.

IMO, if you are just looking for groceries, I wouldnt drive all the way to SuperWalmart, traffic is crazy on 192 & takes forever, I was mad at myself for sitting in it the last time but I needed a car charger for my phone. There is a Winn Dixie grocery store is about 1/2 to 1 mile away. Prices are pretty close for drinks & snacks. Apply online for their club card for savings www.winndixie.com

Palm Pkwy is close to Crossroads shopping center, TGI Fridays, Pizzaria Uno, Taco Bell, McDonalds, I think Chilis. Other close restaurants Joes Crab Shack, Jungle Jims, Shoneys, Burger King, Cicis Pizza, Hooters, tons of them!

Hotel names as well as street names can be confusing in the Orlando area. You may want to double check which Homewood Suites you are talking about. I believe the one called maingate is on Parkway Blvd., not Palm Parkway. They are two entirely different streets and areas. The one on Parkway Blvd is just north of 192 opposite Celebration. The one on Palm Parkway is near the Crossroads and I believe is usually referred to as Homewood Suites Lake Buena Vista.

You're right JohnnyOldBoy, I wrote the wrong "Parkway" in my post. I've found it called Homewood Suites Main Gate and Homewood Suites Disney World. It's on Parkway Blvd. The only way I could find it initially was to open up all of the Homewood Suites pictures I could find and match it up to the one in my travel brochure because in there it's called Homewood Suites Parkway. Ugh!

I have not stayed at that Homewood Suites but I have stayed at the Radisson Resort on the Parkway and at Vacation Village on the Parkway (a timeshare unit we got thru skyauction). This is a very nice area and very convenient to WDW. There is only one traffic signal between Homewood Suites Maingate and WDW, at the intersection of Palm Parkway and US 192. At 192, take a right (going west), cross over I-4 and 3 of 5 lanes become a ramp right into WDW (maingate). About 10 minutes to the MK parking lot.

Hi again JohnnyOldBoy ~ I'm glad to hear it's close and in a decent area. Is it as quick/easy to get to the other parks too?

From the top of your head can you tell me any fast food/restaurants that are nearby? And is there a grocery store close? Department store (Walmart or the like)? Thanks if you can help

The "Maingate" entrance from US192 puts you on World Drive, the main north south road (actually more of a highway) thru WDW. MK is probably the furthest from the entrance so any park will be within about 10 minutes.

is there a grocery store close?

There is a Publix about 1 mile east on 192 and another that I think is a bit larger about 3 miles east. Also, ther is a Sam's Club about 4 miles east and a Walmart about 6 miles east.

Along US192 east from the Parkway is about every fast food and chain restaurant you can think of.
