We are a family of five and have stayed at the Springhill Suites nearby several times.
What I like about this area is it is a "bit out of the way" with less traffic and congestion from many of the areas around WDW.
That said, I wouldn't stay there if I didn't have a car. There is a Target and some fast food and other restaurants there now, but for the most part to go anywhere you need to drive.
I don't know about the shuttle. I would call the hotel to find out. These kinds of services can change all the time.
I would say that shuttles, when offered from these perimeter hotels, are often quite limited in hours. There may be one two or three a day. They also seem to be offered less these days, likely killed by ridesharing.
In addition to asking if they have a shuttle, if they do make sure the schedule will meet your plans. Time is money on vacation, expecially a theme park visit.
You didn't say why you picked this hotel. I would look for something with better transportation options.
There is and interesting thread here about using the city bus service from the many hotels on Palm Parkway.
