For anyone that has a home treadmill and runs on it, please help me out. Mine died and I am trying to find one that fits my budget (the one I really want is $4000, so that won't happen). I do run walk and sometimes longer slower runs. I need something that can take the pounding of running.

What do you have and do you like it????

We have a Pro-Form we bought at Sears. I think we paid $800.00 for it.

I know it's "bottom of the line" in the treadmill world, but I've run on it for 5+ years and its worked, and continues to work well.

I have a Nordic Track C2420 that I got at Sears in Jan 2005. It was on sale for about $1200.00. It has a lot of bells and whistles that I don't use(programmable runs, etc). It is relatively quiet and has a good sized "bed" - don't remember the correct word for the area you run/walk on. DH is a big guy so we wanted to make sure it could handle his stride. Turns out he doesn't like the TM! Oh well! Good luck with your shopping.

We bought an Epic View 550 from Costco in February. We decided to buy from Costco because of their return policy (basically anything anytime any reason). We have been very happy with our treadmill. It also has a large track area (DH is tall). It goes up to 12mph. It is maybe not as compact when folded as some others, but very sturdy.

We have put about 150 miles on it so far, and no signs of any issues.

I forgot to mention, my previous TM was a Proform and it lasted 7.5 years. I am looking to stay under $1200 if possible, but I want it to be sturdy and last at least 5 years. I am not a skinny minny, and do run on my TM so I have to take this into account also.

I went to Sears and tried a couple Nordic Tracks and they were wobbly to me. DH thinks maybe they weren't tightened up like they should???? I also looked at a couple Life Fitness TM's, but they are a little more pricey for me.

I have a Reebok 9500 - got it at Sports Authority for $1500 in July - it has a wide, long belt. It goes up to 12 mph and 12 incline.

We have a Nordic Trac 4100. Bought it at Sears quite a few years ago. Retail at that time was $1,500 but they had this one that was brought back for some reason. Paid $750 and bought the warranty because it was a return.

Have used it for at least 5 years. Wide track, fairly soft running area. Whenever I use treadmill in my travels, I have rarely found one that feels as good as this one does.

Now it doesn't have any bells a whistles but that was 5 years ago. You probably can't find one without bells and whistles today.

Nordic Trac is great for us. To a certain extent, you get what you pay for in Treadmills. I usually take the lowest model in a series if everything is equal as in running surface, motor, etc. Usually the only difference is the extras which I don't need. It's like buying a car. Once you decide on the basic car, then there are a lot of different trim levels that really add to the price.

We went low budget too. I have a Horizon T3.6 that we got at Dick's Sporting Goods a year ago for around $700. It was pretty much the bottom of the line, a few bells and whistles but not many. My biggest complaint? The cup holders aren't deep enough to keep the water bottle from bouncing out while I'm running, so I have to put my water on a table next to the TM. All I wanted was something that I could hit "start," set the speed and incline, and it would tell me how far I'd gone, and that's what I got. It does have a few programmed runs that DH uses, but I do my own thing.

Hey everyone, thanks for all the wonderful responses. After 2 weeks of searching and researching, today I did buy one. I got a Horizon T83 and it was on sale. DH even walked on it and said it felt good. Yes, I wanted a Life Fitness, but the cost was so high. I do have a Y membership, so I just wanted something for early morning and after work runs at home when the weather is bad (remember I am in Wisconsin!!!!) This one felt good, so I am hoping it works good for me. I think I tried out every brand of TM out there, including the $4000 Life Fitness

congrats!!! I just killed my proform sears version after 8 years and 2 marathons (and 3 halves...) and just last week got a new Bodyguard 260. I love it although with the orthopedic belt it feels much more like running outside then my proform did.

I spent a few weeks checking out all of the different brands and on one saturday made the rounds in my running gear and ran on them all until I found the one I liked that didnt cost $4000... LOL.

Renee - That is totally what I did! It took me a bit to find one that I liked and wasn't $4000!!!!
