I have a HUGE stye on the bottom lid of my left eye. I get them all the time. If it is on the top lid, the lid swells up to the brow bone and I look like Quasimodo. This one is on the bottom lid, so the soft tissue is swollen down my face to my cheekbone.
I usually get them in "crops" where I have multiple ones at the same time in the same eye. I think what has happened this time is that I have 2 on top of each other. Can't really tell because it is so swollen.
I saw the eye Dr. in Feb. when I had 4 styes in my left eye. She said I can use hot compresses (which are COMPLETELY ineffective - I have tried them hundreds of times and I KNOW they don't do any good) or I can have them surgically lanced. Perfect.
I know we had a thread about home cures for warts. I need your home cures for styes. I really can't keep walking around wearing sunglasses. It looks odd.
So far I have read that acacia or guava leaves are good - I don't have those. I can brew tumeric or coriander into a solution and put that on my eye. I can put cloves on my eye (THAT sounds like a terrible idea!) or I can put a sliced open aloe leaf on my eye (another HORRIBLE idea). I have also heard the one about rubbing the stye with gold. I have rubbed my styes with my wedding band in the past and it didn't help, so it is safe to say that one doesn't work.
It irritates me beyond words that the Dr. can not think of ANYTHING to do beyond compresses. What if all the compresses in the world suddenly disappeared? THEN what would she say?
