Hey there all,
I just wanted to stop by and say we're back home now, and what a great trip we've all had.
We visited our DVC home resort Aulani for the 2nd time. I loved all the improvements that came with the expansion of the resort. My favourite part of the trip was Halloween. It was very exciting for the kids DS (5) & DD (7) to experience an American style Halloween. Aulani went all out with it, we did family pumpking carving (the Americans found it so hard to believe that we had never carved our own pumpkin before!) There was a glow in the dark party for the kids and trick or treating around the resort, it was really fantastic! Snorkling in Rainbow Reef with my daughter was a special moment, as she only learn't to swim in the past year, hubby isn't a water person so FINALLY someone to enjoy the water with!
Other trip high lights was my daughter's birthday, and her birthday call from Mickey and Minnie in the morning. Hiring a car was a great decision, we explored the whole island, ate from the shrimp trucks on the north shore, and stopped at our favourite places that we visited on our last trip with the tour bus, getting longer than half an hour was fabulous
The only downside unfortunately, is still the food. The buffet, Makahiki is terribly over-priced for what they offer. I don't mind paying a pretty penny for a great buffet but for this I felt really ripped off, I wouldn't even pay $20 for my meal there, I just couldn't find anything appealing to put on my plate. I enjoyed my lunch at Ama Ama though, those fish tacos rock!
And so, that's my vacation for 2013, been and gone! But not before I could get my hands on some more DVC points
Next stop will be Grand Californian with an Aulani stop over in 2015, but whose counting!
