Well today I received my NEW quote for home heating oil. This is for 10/1/06-5/1/07. Any additional oil needed after May 1 '07 will be at daily market price!!!!!!

My QUOTE...$2.74 a gallon!!! Last year's quote I was paying $2.34 a gallon!!

YIKES!!!! :scared1: I live in MA! What are some of you DISer's in other parts of the country paying for Home Heating Oil for your homes come this Fall??

May I mention this is a LOCK IN price. If you do not accept the LOCK IN, I have NO idea what the cost per gallon will be.

YIKES! We heat with a pellet stove. Last years oil prices created a shortage of wood pellets because people either switch to stoves or started using theirs more. Well, a shortage of pellets just made the price of pellets even higher. We had a real hard time finding any & almost ran out.

They claim they weren't expected the demand. Well, it better not happen this year. We bought a ton in June at a low summer price, but they aren't in yet. They better come in. I would have bought more, but we don't have room to store more. We go thru about 4 ton a winter.

I spoke with someone today who locked in at $2.85. I think I will take my chances.

I am not sure of our price per gallon, but we are on a 10-month plan and we just got a notice that ours went up from $310.00/month to $400.00! :faint:

We also live in MA

Jill

Our pre-pay price was $2.67 a gallon but we wound up paying $2.69 because I put it on the Disney Visa (that's 10 points!). 2 cents more per gallon, but those points will come in handy next year! I'm in Ma. too. The western end of the state though.

I just pre-bought 688 gals. at $2.599/gal in CT. I thought that was kinda high until DH told me that a lot of people at work were paying around $2.74/gal.

I started this Thread yesterday and am bumping it up to see if anyone else has any ideas on what oil will cost for them in their areas!

Looks like so far, my prices are rather costly.

Dawn, what do you mean about taking a chance :confused3 , are you going to wait until like Sept to see what the prices may be around your area?

Thanks!

I just changed companies because our old co was literally taking us over the barrell ! The new co has a lockin of $2.49/gal.

I live in MA and am taking my chances, but my mother in CT just locked in at a $2.65 pre-paid rate. She had to buy 1750 gallons, as that is what she used last winter.

I also live in Ma. I never lock in. I fill my oil tank twice a year. First time in late October. The second in February. I pay about 450.00 a year for oil. But I also keep our house at about 64 degrees all Winter. I don't like it when it gets really hot!

Wow, I guess I am lucky to live in KS where we don't use heating oil. Most homes here are gas heated, but mine is electric. In the year I've lived here, my electric bill has yet to be over $36.00 a month. I don't think I'm ever going to move!!

YIKES!!! :scared1: ! I just built this home and purposely had oil as our home before this for 15 years was all electric and it was OUTRAGEOUS. Some months in the winter was $400.00!!! Then it would start to drop when summer would kick in and the A/C was cranked up and the bill would be high again!! We knew for a fact when building the new house...NO ELECTRIC HEAT at all!!!

You are so lucky Lyzziesmom!!! :goodvibes

We just pre-bought 800 gallons at 2.599 a gallon (ouch!).... that's not the worst of it, that's only half the house, the other half is heated with the pellet stove, we go through about 3 tons of those... we bought those very inexpensively however (around 210 a ton?) We are North West of Boston...

I hate winter... just hate it!

Haven't received our quote yet. In 2002 when we bought the house we were paying $1.23 per gallon. Last year we paid $2.30 per gallon. I wanted to change oil companies this year but they wanted me to pay for the tank test and I didn't want to. They were going to charge $2.49. We'll see what ours comes in at... We use a gas fireplace a lot in the winter - we used 700 gallons of oil last winter and it was a warm one. Lets hope for the same again this year.
