We got home yesterday shortly after lunch and it is soooooooo cold.:scared1:
The drive home was interesting. South Carolina was cold and they had a lot of snow on the ground covered in ice. The highway was wet. North Carolina was clear. It started to snow near Richmond and we had snow the rest of the way to Canada. It was light snow but very windy. The roads in West VA, Maryland, PA and NY were snow covered to bare and there were lots of plows and salters on the road. My Sante Fe was covered in slushy ice when we got home. Went to the car wash and need two washes to get it off. With four drivers we took 28 hours including three hours of stops. Not too bad. The traffic was light but lots of trucks.

Now for the weather. DD and DBF went to class this morning and came home and said they wanted to drive straight back to Orlando. I don't even have to take them to the parks. Just get them out of here. It is cold.

The parks were quiet after Jan 1 except for Universal and it was a mess. MY DN is there now and said Universal was quiet yesterday. Now her idea of quiet might be 6o minute lines.

Can't wait for next year. We are going to Christmas and I won't have to cook.

Thanks for the info. We are considering driving to WDW for Christmas break. We always go in August, so have never been during Christmas time. I am interested to know about weather, roads, etc.

The roads down on the 26th were good. They had a storm in NC and SC but it was over and the roads were only wet. Coming home we hit some snow but the plows in VA,PA and NY were everywhere. Traffic was a little slower but that is all.

Last year we encountered one of the major storms in the Washington area. We drive a Santa Fe and have snow tires. We did not stop and drove through it, but it doubled our time. There were many cars in the ditch or stuck. (none were Cdns.). We drive every year between Dec 20 and Jan 20 and have never been stopped. Once you get in SC they do not have the equipment and the highway has closed. If you are on it they don't make you get off. Usually it is Cdns. PA and NY cars that are left. Their idea of a major snow event is most certainly not what we consider major.

We are going again next year and hope to be there the week before Christmas, depending on DD exam schedule.

If you have specific questions please send me a pm.

We arrived home on Jan. 10th. We also drove down on Christmas day hitting the storm and stopping in Virginia. I think the only reason we stopped was because DH's family was driving in their car and stopped. I have pics of snow on palm trees. :lmao:

Our drive home was fine, we hit the snow in New Brunswick and all the way home but only delayed us about 30 minutes as the Cobequid Tole highway was HORRIBLE!!!!

Love doing the drive, but we are going to stick with the beginning of Dec as the crowds were horrible.
