Even though I was 100% positive this was legit, I did what you said. It was good advice. It was on there. I have no clue to how this was missed in the title search.
The people you paid to do the title search should be responsible for clearing this up since it was their error. I'd show up in person to their office if possible and if they continue to try to evade you I'd consider having my closing attorney draft a letter to them (on law office stationery) stating that you are holding them responsible for fixing this and if they don't that they will be responsible for any suffering you have because of their error.
